Indeed, says so right there in the first post.

As with previous years, wins and top 10s are credited for the following:

• all races of .1 category or higher
• national championships
• continental championships
• world championships

Presumably the winner at the end of the season is the longest run to occur during the season, not necessarily the longest run still active in October.

The winner is the guy who, at the end of the season, has the most top-tens in the aforementioned types of races, without winning anything in such a race. Once you win, you've lost.
