Some background on the guy. will be watching him in Tour of the Alps. Tbh i don't expect much when it gets nervous in the peloton with his limited experience, but once he points the bike uphill the class should shine through.

Fantastic guy! Listened to the Besenwagen Podcast, he seems like a really likeable young man. It seems he knows what he is getting into it, I wish him all the best.

Lmao ,Palzer's dad on Anton telling him he's going to be a Procyclist: "That's when I said 'Ah go, you're going to be stupid, you're going to stand out there on the road and snort the fumes'."

Well good for him and the cycling world, that the other nineteen better ski mountaineers are not changing sports, too. ;)

Not entirely fair though. I guess the Vertical race is the most relevant discipline (without downhill skiing and individual as opposed to the overall ranking where team results are also counted). And there he is the number 2 of all time after some Spanish guy (who is, however, some years older).

1 1/2 months ago, at the World Championship in Andorra, Palzer won the silver medal in the Vertical race. Remi Bonnet, Switzerland, won quite by some confident margin though. And he is younger than Palzer. So if the experiment goes well, this might be the new target guy for cycling teams

Bonnet is also good friends with Tao Geoghean Hart and raced the worlds with a Ineos base layer, so theres that.

6 minutes back, pretty solid.

Almost 8 minuts ahead of 4-time TdF champion. Legend in the making!
Looks like Primoz's mission to attract people from other sports and save cycling is going well. Only metahumans from the future (Pog and Remco) can stop him.

Don't forget Remco used to be a footballer.

Anton on his debiut:

Some interesting stuff: doubts regarding his debut among top cyclists, comparison of two sports (strong change of pace in cycling vs steady effort of ski-mountaneering), feeling very cold on a pass despite coming from winter sports and some others.

He is already as good as the best german climber, Ben Zwiehoff.

really interesting interview with Toni:

  • he and his team are really happy with how he is doing
  • his "problem" right now is not his cardiovascular system, but he lacks the specific power for cycling in his legs
  • his threshold perfomance is at 370 watt
  • his next race will be the Tour of Hungary

He is doing his first grand tours this year. Surprising.
He was a good helper in the last races and he seems to have learned riding in the bunch quickly.
