Great ride from Vakoc!!

Wonder why Movistar didn't chase harder with Lobato there.

Bizarre wasn't it? They had 4 riders there to support him and it was a very good finish for him.

Seems really stupid considering the finish was perfect for Lobato and he won it easily.

Kennaugh is out of the top 10 GC because of a penalty. Pauwels moves up to 10th.

How did he not know about that rule. That is ridiculous. Maybe Sky should spend a little more time teaching their riders about simple, well known rules. If a rule like this is in place then I'm pretty sure that there is a reason.

Surely he knows about it considering Froome on Alpe in 2013

He sounded he didn't care, thought he is the GC guy for Sky. 20' is a lot.

kind silly that you cant take a gel from car if you drop back ot it yourself. Vakoc in prime position to win this now, alot to like about him

Nice racing again today and some heroic efforts by Hugh Porter with the funny foreign names. Am sure Petra Vakoc is thrilled with her unanticipated celebrity

If his team car gave it to him, then they're the ones who should be penalised IMO - a rider should be able to trust that his DS is following the rules.

And in this case some leniency would probably have been fair - pretty sure last year the race officials were giving riders and teams wrong information about how many kms were left (which contributed to the break winning several times), who knows if the team car had the right information.

I don't think it will matter a great deal anyway, Kennaugh was nearly 20 secs back already, so he was going to have be aggressive to overhaul Vakoc in any case.

usually there are signs at the road side signalizing (the start and) the end of the feeding, and it's also communicated to the team cars by the commissaire via radio. Both was the case when I was following the SIbiu Tour at least, so I guess it should also apply for the higher profile UCI races.

Is it possible the peloton (or at least certain teams) didnt know vakoc was in front? Seems the only explanation for the likes of movistar not chasing. Funnily enough i see to remember vakoc winning a stage of tour of poland solo last year when they didnt know he was away?

I did think that, Etixx came to the front a couple of times in the last 10k's as if they didn't know they had Vakoc up front. I love racing with no radio's!

What happens today? 215km with a lumpy finish. 6 man teams should make it hard to control a sprint.

Should be plenty of late attacks especially from Sky with Kennaugh, Poels and Swift

Etixx probably bluffing, come to the front to break it up but not so obviously that teams that may have forgotten about him remember Vakoc is there.
