Yea, Trentin sprinted for EQS, so either Cav was baulked or derailed by the Vakoč crash or just didn't have it and let Trentin contest today.

Seems as though Cav was held up by the crash.

He will probably be complaining that the ToB is silly next

I have loved Cav since the Telekom days, but now he just grates on me. Excuses, moans, tirades. Get to the Track and go into obscurity please Cav.

Wyss, Rensburg and Trentin in a six man break three minutes ahead with 90km to go. This is perfect Trentin territory - if the break is successful.

Beating Greipel with ease. A new sprint king is born!

And he should have a good team to lead him out. Imagine Cav as his last man in the train...it would be great.

Has-been Cav more worried about looking around and blocking than actually getting stuck in and going full gas till the line like what gaviria did today.

Haha, anyone see the lotto guy celebrating before the end

Maybe Cavendish is happy for Gaviria, there's no need to give him so much hate all the time. Alls Cavendish has done is praised Gaviria

Look how low gaviria got in the sprint, tell me Cavendish isn't tutoring all of these sprinters from Etixx. Even Boonens head is on his handlebars when he sprints

Lol its not exactly a new discovery that u should try and be as low as poss when sprinting! Cavs better than most coz he has short arms and legs

yea, things didn't suddenly leapfrog when Cav entered the scene.

A famous picture from TdF '91 here:

But windtunnel testing might have improved positioning of the head and arms etc. Dunno.

So after a few sprints (and a great solo from Vakoc) the race winner should be decided over the next 2 days. A long drag up Hartside tomorrow and then a lumpy stage on Friday which should split the pack up, although there is a fair bit of flat towards the finish.

the british press " Mark Cavendish helps Fernando Gaviria to win " unbelievable.

I think in one of the sprint stages in the first week of this Vuelta, the BBC headline was "Froome misses chance to win"
