Interesting, Bet365 are offering live bets on certain rider's finishing place.

Bonnet 10th place or worse @ 1.65

Hasn't finished top10 yet, but of course there are a few less sprinters now.

Good work!

Yeah they occasionally do that.

Lucky, he had the top9 wrapped up but let them go. Btw he finished 3rd in the last sprint. (stage 13)

So, it's Worlds time. Most books seem to have RR odds up now. Gilbert deserves to be favourite but I think he's a bit short. 4.10 at Betfair if anyone is interested but I expect him to drift more. I will run through what I think.

Bet365

Phillipe Gilbert 3.10 - Should be favourite but not as short
Oscar Freire 8.00 - About right
Mark Cavendish 8.00 - Should be 101/1
Filippo Pozzato 14.00 - Good odds
Tyler Farrar 14.00 - Should be 51/1
Thor Hushovd 14.00 - Too short
Mathew Goss 14.00 - Too short
Peter Sagan 17.00 - Too short
Fabian Cancellara 19.00 - Good
Cadel Evans 23.00 - Good
Edvald Boasson Hagen 26.00 - Good
Alexandre Kolobnev 26.00 - Great value
Alexandre Vinokourov 26.00 - He's not racing?
Matti Breschel 34.00 - Probably a bit over
Luis Leon Sanchez 34.00 - As above
Giovanni Visconti 34.00 - Good value
Allan Davis 34.00 - No chance
Peter Velits 41.00 - Neither
Nicholas Roche 41.00 - Not really a chance either
Greg Van Avermaet 41.00 - A good outsider.
Samuel Sanchez 41.00 - Should be 30-35
Andre Greipel 51.00 - No
Sylvain Chavanel 51.00 - No
Grega Bole 51.00 - A long shot
Luca Paolini 51.00 - 4th in line for Italian leadership
Vincenzo Nibali 51.00 - Will not win but should be up there, don't rule out based on Vuelta
Vladimir Gusev 51.00 - No
Frank Schleck 51.00 - Good value
Tony Martin 81.00 - No
Daniel Oss 81.00 - To win from the break?

Big outsiders

Michael Albasini 126.00
Lars Boom 151.00
Bjorn Leukemans 201.00
Bernhard Eisel 251.00

I'm not sure how I will bet, I will get Breschel, Kolobnev and Visconti in as well as a Sanchez. Cover with Gilbert, Freire and Pozzato (or maybe just 2 of these 3).

Where do you get Lars Boom @ 150 (edit should learn to read)

Should be able to lay him and Leukemans for a lot lower than that when they make a move.

Boom is 150 with bet365, but has propably been copied elsewhere also

Btw. to bad only bet365 have the courage to make these cycling odds. All the other bookies have just waited and then semi-copyed them like usual. I'd be shocked if anyone but bet365 came out first with the time trial-odds. Even betfair only opens cyclingmarkets now when bet365 have so that they can copy their list of riders..

Evans still available at 41 at Eurosportbet which seems good value especially at EW. Although he was at 51 early doors.

Bet24 have release TT odds:

Fabian Cancellara 1.50
Tony Martin 7.00
Gustav Larsson 7.00
Richie Porte 18.00
David Millar 18.00
David Zabriskie 18.00
Michael Rogers 25.00
Edvald Boasson Hagen 25.00
Peter Velits 25.00
Janez Brajkovic 35.00
Svein Tuft 35.00
Bert Grabsch 35.00
Luis Leon Sanchez 45.00
Koos Moerenhout 45.00
Vladmir Gusev 55.00
Sylvain Chavanel 55.00
Ruben Plaza 75.00
Tejay Van Garderen 75.00
Alex Rasmussen 100.00
Artem Ovechkin 100.00
Jos Van Emden 100.00
Ignatas Konovalovas 100.00
Dominique Cornu 150.00
Nicolas Vogondy 150.00
Raivis Belohvosciks 150.00
Andriy Grivko 200.00
Jaroslaw Marycz 200.00
Kanstantsin Siutsou 200.00
Martin Velits 200.00
Robert Hunter 300.00
José Serpa 300.00
Rigoberto Uran 300.00
Maciej Bodnar 300.00
Matias Medici 300.00
Michael Mørkøv 400.00
Dmitry Fofonov 400.00
Yuriy Krivtsov 400.00

Martin seems good value at 7 although Velits at 25 on vuelta form is the stand-out bet

Boom is 250/1 at William Hill, 888 and BlueSq.

I am already on him at 250/1 each way at Bet365 before his price was cut, also on Bole at 80/1 each way.

Reckon Matti Breschel will be my main bet though at 33/1 each way, a generous price for someone who was 7th last year and 3rd the year before.
Not on yet though as I am also sorely tempted by my fave rider Thor...

evans and cancellara are @ $26.00

Why is Cav at $8.00? In general all the sprinters are at too shorter odds. Everyone other than cav is saying that it is a very hard course.

They have no idea..! But it helps with people like Cipollini and Cav himself talking up sprinters as favourite.

The odds will definitely move though, the sprinters will drift which means all the strongmen will come in.

Cancellara at $26 is good value I think, Evans is probably at correct odds.

Bet365 released TT odds, including
Janez Brajkovic 40/1
Edvald Boasson Hagen 40/1
(which are better odds than The Hitch's value bets above)
and also:
Richie Porte 50/1
which feels a good Each-Way chance given his performance at the Tour of Romandie earlier in the year.

I dont know much about the U23 ... but Phinney at 2.75 to win is tempting. Someone info about his rivals?? If Phinney can beat Leipheimer only 10 days ago his form should be ok.
The climbs seem quite steep, could be better for Taylor

Bookmakers cover where the money is and if there is a a lot of people with limited knowledge of cycling or who have heard that is a sprinters course then that means the short odds on people like Cav.

Surely evans should be shorter than $26 dollars.

I like Konovalovas v Grabsch @ 1.83

Too many hills for the big engine.

Martin over Larsson and Porte over Velits should both get up, currently 1.50 and 1.55

Ovechkin (2.25) vs Cornu (1.57) could be interesting, I think it's 50/50 which isn't what the odds suggest.
