Todays final stage of tour of Basque

Stage 6 - Tour of Basques

Its a challenging tt yet the form should stay true.

One again im going big and i dont mind two big bets on the tt matchebts, two 4/7s Sam sanchez such a talented lad, can ride solid tt, kiserlovski will no doubt be tired from todays antics up the road, nordhaug broke free of henao he is doing well in the colder weather with his allergies under control.

10pts Sam Sanchez to beat Kiserlovski 4/7 BetVictor
10pts Nordhuag to beat Henao 4/7 BetVictor

5pts The Field v T.martin 2/1 VC Bet

Tony Martin has said he is not sure about this tt he has done bit recon, their are some crazy hills at start and finish, it may also rain making things more tricky, his head might not be in this as he see's other races as more important targets for him. He should not even be odds on favourite this is a 2/1 bet on something that shouldnt be more than evens

I'm too lazy to check all the companies rules but does anyone know how the Ferrari v Chicchi match bet was settled with various bookmakers today? Or any others involving Ferrari. I know a few companies had that particular one up as I backed Ferrari with Pinnacle this morning. It was settled as a loser due to the official results placing Ferrari last in the peloton but their rules state it's on the first results published and originally Ferrari was listed 9th before the DQ.

I know bet365 settled with Chicchi as winner too against Ferrari. I think normaly the deciding thing is the result when the podiumpresentation takes place, but since I dont know if the results were corrected before or after that I dont know it that decision was correct, but also that rule mostly goes towards bets for stagewinners. I doubt however that the first unofficial results will ever count for anything, and without being completely sure I think it was corrected in the first official results published, and that those must be the counting ones.

Thanks,
That seems to make sense. Ferrari placed in 186th or whatever is the official result. Pinnacle have actually resettled my bet now on request.

I see William Hill have started copying Bet365s match bet odds - that must be pretty frustrating setting up matches each day only for other books to copy them.

I backed Ferrari to beat Bennati with Victor Chandler and was settled a winner. They delayed a while and then paid out but didn't wait for the official judges verdict I think. I had the DSQ of Rojas in Liege voided in my favour before with them too, when the other rider didn't finish so they don't seem to be too consistent.

Voeckler 14/1 for a top ten finish at bet365. That's pretty good isn't it?

still has that knee injury and his form leading into the tour has been lesser then last year for sure. Plus he surely wont get as much 'room' in the breakaways.
I'm doubting he will have a good tour, but we'll see.

So the Olympics are coming up. Cavendish is obviously the hot favourite for the road race, but I'm sure there are some good deals to be had looking elsewhere.

Wanted some feedback on a few I thought looked interesting;

Greg van Avarmaet at 100/1. He won the sprint from the bunch trailing the 3 leaders in the Ronde, showing he can still be fresh after a long race. No doubt he has the legs to get over Box Hill. According to an interview with him, the Belgian strategy is to try and put a man into every escape group. He could certainly deliver from that situation, though might be better as an E/W.

Ventoso at 80/1 - another that can easily get over Box Hill, looks quite good as an E/W to me.

Sylvain Chavanel at 80/1 - has been in great form all season helping with Boonen's historic quadruple in the cobbles, and putting in strong times in all three time trials at the Tour, as well as strong attacks in the last kms in the first week. Although he didn't grab a win, he might make it stick here.

What does everyone think?

I agree Chavenel's form in the first week of the Tour looked outstanding, so of those three I like him the best.

Really though, when Cavendish is in form he wins 80%+ of the sprints he contests, and he sure looked to be peaking nicely in Stage 18 of the Tour. With the chance to be the first home gold medalist of the Olympics this is the biggest race of his life and he's conditioned himself to be able to cope just fine with the Box Hill circuit.

So for me it comes down to the likelihood of a break staying away. With Wiggins and Froome in superhuman form it would seem highly unlikely they won't peg anything back in the last 40km.

I backed Cav at 2.60 a week ago and am very happy with that. I think he deserves to be odds-on.

I wouldn't say so much break staying away as late attacks from the likes of Chavanel and Canc that will be the main threat. It's a shame that there's barely even a ramp to try and launch such a move, but this is about the odds, not the course.

You have to factor in the 5 man teams, also. If Sky dedicate 2 men (probably Froome and Stannard) to chasing down the earlier breaks, then that leaves just Millar and Wiggins for the last 20km or so. Cav is vulnerable to poor positioning and late attacks.

is anyone betting at Vuelta?

I've had a look, but its hard to find any value. Contador is way too short odds, Froome has pretty short odds as well so no go for the overall. There isn't really an outstanding sprinter here who you can confidently back for the flat days.

I suppose who could bet on Purito for the uphill finishes but again he'll probably be really short odds so not worth the risk imo.
