Wondering if the idea was that as Ineos had supposedly got a pre-contract agreement with Foss and Movistar had supposedly got a pre-contract agreement with Rodríguez, Ineos were trying to use that as a means to play swapsies or something or as compensation for Movistar for breaking their pre-contract to keep Carlos, or if, given his money move to Ineos had broken down, Foss' agent offered him to Movistar as an alternative and they said no thanks, given Foss is older, less proven, two and a half years removed from his best showings and not from the team's primary market.

I don't understand the move for INEOS at all. He has done almost nothing since 2019, and has done significantly less this year. Movistar hasn't even let him ride the Vuelta since COVID. Does he have characteristics that don't show up in the results that would cause a team to value him? All I remember for is running into the house during the Giro.

I would be surprised if that's even a battle for Astana.

They've barely scored 60% of the points that the 18th team has so far and I think their roster is way weaker than any team inside top18 right now, I can't see a single rider that would be expected to score big all season for them. Not a sign of any big signings for 2024 either. They may have given up already. They've been pretty much a PRT level team for a while now.

That being said, every team has a place for a few riders that aren't going to contribute very much, it has minimal bearing on the UCI rankings what your 29th or 30th best rider does.

I wouldn't even call them part of the battle anymore imo. There's just no chance they make top 18. It's pretty much a joke that they still have that WT license.

Nico has a great advantage. He's not called Alexandre, so that way there won't be other Alexandre Vinokourov with a lot of top-100s to get people confused with the great Alexandre Vinokourov when in the future statisticians will search for the name.

I think EF have spent all of their money on re-signing Healy because they seem to make a lot of "creative" transfers for 2024.

But who knows, maybe Vaughters is right about them. Two years ago I would have called Healy a "creative" signing as well.

Rootkin-Gray is rated highly round here tbf, Saint Piran have a good program going. I only saw him in the World Championships but he showed impressive strength on that nightmare course. They probably got him fairly cheap too.

PCS have them at 25. Woods would be 26. Boivin and Einhorn should be "a lock". Van Tricht 29th rider.

in local media, Reynders said that he is in talks with four teams, but nothing certain yet. So sounded more like he is leaving. Ben Hermans would also like to do another year, but has no offers yet.
