I obviously didn't read any further than the headline back then, so was a bit surprised to see that PCS has him down to ride Guangxi.

Although he is still listed as a Bike Aid rider on the UCI website, apparently he signed a contract on from October 1st.

On the Spanish front, Marca are reporting Ion Izagirre will sign on at Cofidis for another season, which could be his last as a pro.

Carlos Verona gets a newly-minted 3 year deal at Lidl-Trek.

Diego Uriarte gets two more years at Kern Pharma after winning a Ruta del Sol stage this year.

Caja and Kern are both busy promoting the next generation too: each has three riders going pro in 2026 who are completing their first or second U23 seasons this year. Both teams still have six spots left to take them up to their 2025 totals

Tim Marsman (who is one of the best dutch contin riders on the kermesse circuit) is going to Alpecin.

Marsman is a very strong rider and it was actually quite harsh he didn't get a deal with a pro team before he left the U23s.

That a team like Alpecin is clearly challenged budget wise is quite disturbing. Is that due to how much they've invested in MVDP, Jasper and Groves or is the budget really tight, given how much of their depth they are losing this offseason.

They've luckily got a good devo team to promote Sentjens, Remijn and Dockx, plus a bigger role for Tibor del Grosso and hopefully Emiel Verstrynge keeps progressing. Elsehwere, I think I've only heard about Busatto and Marsman coming in from external sources...

+Ballerstedt, if that really counts as external.

I thought they could sign some of the Lotto/Wanty leftovers, but looking at that list of Wanty guys missing out, even a team with no budget will likely be not too interested

maybe Smith for the early leadout or Kamp based on former results, but hard to see much use for those "climbers"

As for Wanty leftovers:

Smith is useful as a domestique for cheap. Experienced and he is still able to do a decent job in lesser hilly races and (very) early lead out as you mention. I would have taken him in the new team. De Pooter is quite similar to Smith with a bit more prowess in cobbled classics, less climbing ability and of course less experienced.

Bonneu has had a bad season but his 2023 and 2024 campaigns were good. He is valuable for a team that will employ him in lesser stage races like Norway, Hungary and so on. He is simply not good enough in WT races. With that program he would be a good addition.

Meintjes would fill up a spot in a team looking for a Top20 / Top25 in GT and races like Dauphine, Romandie, etc if there is such a thing.

Other than that I see zero value.

Kamp is useless unless you want him to ride as a secondary captain in Amstel Gold Race, Brabantse Pjil, Post Denmark Rundt and Plouay and get some 100 UCI points. He won't be of any use outside that four races, maybe a bit of donkey work, but that's about it. Faure-Prost career has been destroyed after some health issues in 2024. Goossens is bound to retire. Colleoni is useless.
