Apparently RBH tries to buy out Etxeberria.

They clearly dont give a *** anymore if someone has a contract or not ^^

Denk not caring about riders having contracts or not has been a well known fact for years (lots of other managers find him a *** because of it) but in this case he or Red Bull in general doesn't seem to be "at fault" as etxeberria apparently has a limited buy out clause. So if true it's fair play. Pretty sure Jayco also wanted him.

They didn't think that when the same thing happened to them.

Uijtdebroecks did not have a buy out clause in his contract. Completely different.

Of course Bora/Red Bull have done the same thing with riders without that clause so yes they are hypocrites but this one is not like that.

there was an interview with Zimmermann in German press the other day, who said that he didn't need to sign a new contract. His old one remains valid. So unless someone at Lotto decided to give Girmay better conditions (which is unlikely, I guess), it would likely mean that he signs elsewhere indeed.

Zimmermann also said that his main job next year will be to help van Eetvelt, so the current plan seems to be to keep him on board.

There's a Costa Blanca training camp in December, and the team will be presented at the Lotto headquarter on January 15.

Is there any way to read this without paying?

The jan 15th presentation would be very late... Also a bit weird cause I would think they have a second training camp at that moment, maybe it's right after.

Also yeah the goal is of course to keep Van Eetvelt, I'm not sure where they are on that right now. Before december training camp I'm not going to be sure about the selection.

They also signed the contract after all three parties agreed and after the transfer fee was fixed.

Yeah after threatening to use Belgian labor law to unilaterally break the contract, obviously not the same lmao. Just like with Van Gils, Van Wilder at the time, and plenty of other cases it's all way more hostile than when a buy out clause is literally put into a contract (I do think it's basically an obligation in Spanish contracts).

also some guys are normally off to Australia already at that point. It's not a quote from Zimmermann but just brought up along the lines, so no idea what's the exact source.

The article was free to read for me. Didn't notice that it needs a login.

Here's a free version that should work for everyone: https://archive.is/5ArOe

What does the part about Veuchelen mean exactly? Sounds a bit weird with my translate... He's in Intermarchés head trainer (and also Zimmermanns trainer), but the says something like that he's also sportive manager and decides team tactics and selections? While it would be fine if he stays head trainer (Lotto's head trainer was meeh anyways), I'm confused about the other part, that does not seem like a job for a head trainer, and more importantly it seems like Van De Wouwers job (at least the team selections).

It doesn't make much sense in German either. Not 100% sure, but as this is a local newspaper, I think it's just an explanation about the job of a DS in general, for people that know nothing about cycling.

Kinda like "the DS is our coach [like in football], who makes the selections etc", to explain why it was important for him that he stays on board.

Yeah but the weird thing is that he wasn't even a DS at Intermarché, he is their head trainer. And obviously it makes sense that for Zimmermann wants to keep his trainer if he's happy (same for most riders on both sides, it's probably the most important thing as he's the guy you're in contact with every day).

There was news today that Visit Rwanda and Arsenal have mutually decided to end their sponsorship deal at the end of this season. Can't find the specific article now, but it talked about Rwanda still continuing with other teams - Rams, Clippers, PSG etc. So I guess there could be a bit of money to go towards a cycling team.
