In fairness to Haig, he's had 3x top 5 in the Dauphine, 4x top 10 in Paris-Nice and a top 10 in his only feature in Tirreno-Adriatico. Top 3 in the Vuelta is obviously an outlier but he does have good GC palmares.

With a next-highest GT finish of 19th he belongs there regardless of his one-week results being comparatively decent.

Which is more than can be said for Arkea's and Wagner Bazin's final squads, but sadly I don't think many teams will be kicking themselves over losing those signing opportunities.

And does Gerben Kuypers have a new road team to go with his new CX contract? And from the Lotto side, whither Logan Currie and has Van Der Paar conceded defeat to his injuries? (those are the gaps on PCS destination lists)

As well as agreeing with all the riders you name, is it reasonable to believe that six other Intermarche riders all retired by choice.

I think the emphasis was on "who had a contract", so from those 40 or so contracted for 2026, which had to fit into 30 seats. For Colleoni etc this was not the case.
