How did everybody answer these questions for the GC20?

*How many Dutch riders and which?
*How many riders from Team Sky and which?
*How many riders from last year's top 10/20?
*Any young riders apart from Quintana?

3 - Mollema, Ten Dam, Kelderman
1 - Froome
10 from last year's top 20, 9 from top 10. Actually, 10 of last year's top 11 is in my GC top 20 again, only König missing out.
4 besides Quintana

Good question Sceptic. Now the rule book is full with nuances, but that one I never thought about.

So the rule Committee* will think about that now. 10 mins and the governing body* will come up with a wise and fair decision!

(* Which only consits of me, as ya all know from the Giro. Like I said: Old-UCI-like Verbruggen-dictatorship ;) )

Decision:

Teams for TTT stages can not be replaced in any given GT, unless more than 50% of riders (IOW: 5 or more of the current 9 riders teams at GTs) are exchanged/dropped by a team.

Explanation:
While a single rider being out after the deadline for sending picks, and the start of the given GT means 100% "busted" pick not decided in in-race-competition (like crashes with injuries during stages), a TTT pick still contains more than 50% of it´s original strength. It contains more than 88% if one rider drops out (and isn´t exchanged with another rider). It´s unlikely that the best TT-rider of a team misses out.

The rule committee.

Not that hard. If you are the lone ruler, common sense comes into play... ;)
Otoh, look at the mess UCI, MPCC, race lieutnants, and what the heck else is. They go strictly by rules on minor incidents (like not letting Boom exchange with Vanotti because a DS meeting took place before the health check numbers came out  ; like bike changes on flat stages), but bent them on big issues (like 6-month winter-only bans at the clean team™, or leaving sprinters en mass in the peloton even if failed the time limit). What "crooks"...

Sceptic I would rather say middle-finger to incompetence (see my clinic post)...
The good part: For the future we have a new rule regarding TTTs...

Ofc, today is Tony Montana... err... Tony Martin day :D

Complete picks today:
Martin-19
Dumoulin-7
Cancellara-3
(same as the bookies have them ranked, just shows once more how tight and good the competition here is)

Edit:

Standings after stage 1 are out (links as usual, at frontpage)

defraeye update; everyone has cav tomorrow, lol

Actually 27 of 29 have him. :D

And Jspear, it´s the final-28. The cream of the top at cycnews :D
Not 1 points make the difference anymore, but half point mistakes... and ofc a good portion of luck, as in every tight competition around the world.
Either way, we got lots of same picks now since everybody did their work. As Pantani said after the Giro: "The guys still in know cycling" (not the exact words, but the meaning)... I would sign that.

May 1st provisionals tonight :)

... since we got good splits, already on stage 2 with 40+ km to the finish

Edit: Forget the provs today. Thanks to Sky... as usual, they don´t know how to race.

Edit II: ... Walle of all... he is the lone scorer. A monster point scored against us all... Congrats :)

VinoAE loves Cav now. The rest of us "hate" him. He is a dirty sprinter (this fact we know all), plus it is not the first time he gave up a sprint when he is not able to win... Personally I never liked him. So I hope he will just have a bad Tour.... Oh, and he spoiled the yellow for his team-mate Martin. What a arrogant me-me-me hack...

Edit III: Rankings after stage 2 are up, see links as usual...

yates brothers were never a gc threat, but dutch boys surprised me today, but we will see Tour is looong :)

Valverde/Purito was 50/50 for me but Valverde got the edge because I thought most people would pick him and all I have to do is try to maintain my good score :) that worked out well, with no scorers in my division.

Congrats to Sasquatch for scoring in our division, I wonder who will be the best after tommorow, there are plenty picks of degenkolb, vanmarcke or stybar :)

question for Foxxy, when are the first provisionals coming up? :)
