Ironically it could have been easier for him to obtain & travel with a tourist visa than his proper work visa, due to the ridiculous Bureaucratic BS & time to get it approved....

The first 50km looks good for a serious break to go, but the Steppers would want to get a win on the CV very quickly. It will take some ambition to take them on during the first stage. Alas weak break with locals within the first 10km and a bunch sprint in the end. Voila.
