Doesn't matter at all, the differences aren't that big, top GC guys have three mountains stages to gain back time.

Yeah, I'm sure De Maar went full gas in that one. Shall I post the results of the Curacao championships? ;)

I know he didn't go full gaqs but stilol he;d lose ton of time to messineo in itt. also it doesn;t matter since gaimon gained a lot of time. if he does well enough itt he can win.

Stage 2 "hill" at the end:

Euros might be too lazy and not bothered, but the South Americans can't let Gaimon ride into fame without a fight.

Game on.

Does anyone know why Jelle Vanendert finished 19 minutes behind, together with teammate Sander Armee? I can see Jelle fighting for a stage win in the hillier stages.

I haven't see him do anything remotely well in more than 1 year now. He did have a lot of bad luck last season though.

Probably still on the way back

Well, I didnt know a lot about this member of the "golden generation" (86), but he has been second in Gila:

http://www.cqranking.com/men/asp/gen/race.asp?raceid=24355

by doing well in both ITT and mountain, better than his current mate in Garmin and top ten last year in San Luis, Acevedo.

That doesnt mind that he is better than his leaders Acevedo o Danielson, but he is in better position now to get a good result.. the problem is that tomorrow must pay the today effort.

Sporza now says he has indeed crashed (and so has Armee) and injured his elbow, but nothing is broken so he will decide today if he will keep racing there.
I hope this is not a bad start to a bad year, he struggled enough last year.

acevedo last year in gila was better than anyone, but his team sucked so they destroyed him in the final stage where acevedo was alone for almost entire stage and had to chase back in all flat and climb

This climb pitches up at the end, think Contador has won on it a few times before.

Should be a good climb for Betancur alright. Not sure what the non-Pro Tour South Americans are like and whether they're in form or not.

It will be interesting to see how Betancur rides; he really rode poorly in some races at the back end of last year, and it made me think he wanted out of AG2R.
