How come would Uran help Bardet? He had Woods ahead and with a faster sprint
Because he was strong enough to had a significant gap? Lopez vs. Woods, come on, we all know who is the strongest between those two.

He rode to lose. He lost.
Come on. You need to ride with your teammates, not your bravado. He played his cards perfectly, but if the leaders stayed away you have to trust your teammate in that group. If Cannondale had no faith in Woods they'd had told him to stay on Lopez' wheel, or even wait for Rigoberto. That clearly wasn't the case. Woods has a pretty good kick, too. He might have had a shot had he waited it out.

Besides, Uran's got bigger fish to fry. He can't attack behind his teammates in a race like this and then expect their full support when in the ones he's really after.

Great win by Superman.

P.S. Bit of a microcosm of the season: two argyle bridesmaids, two Colombians on the steps, a member of the class of '94 representing.

Urán is to win Lombardia, for him this is not an importat goal, the team is more important...it wast sure he couid drop anyone and Woods is an strong rider. For sure Wood will give back this respect on saturday.

The problem is than although Uran race day by day more clever, in the big scenarios he use to make mistakes, he use to be there, but no often win, he need more instinct, as Nibali or other riders. And he use to fail when you more expect him

But Bardet or Aru are serious rivals looking at Lombardia, and I think he was stronger today, I dont think they were saving more energie than Urán. Of course the big names are Nibali, the clear favourite with Chaves, Valverde, Purito, even Contador has a chance, but we dont know his curret level, Valverde should be very tired, Purito was out of cyclism... and even in his best level Uran can beat them with this hard profile. Urán was podium in Lombardia with 21 years old... he was helping Purito and Purito failed, other way maybe he could have won so young this monument, there was no time to catch Cunego. His enemy is the rain, there are better riders than him with rain for this race.

Uran need a hard race to eliminate domestiques and to select the race a lot...in the final flat he is better than people as Chaves or Bardet. He nneed toplay well his card. And to do a hard race Wood is important

Look, first of all, it's a race situation. López was riding for Aru or Rosa, similar for Woods, both were part of a late split
López was stronger, but Woods mistimed his sprint.
Had Woods dropped earlier, then you had your Bardet supported by Urán

What about SKY ? Where were they Poels and more importantly Landa . Afterall on here these guys are ear marked to win every race
I don't entirely disagree with your premise, but this isn't the best example. Landa's had issue after issue this season. He's had a better go of it than Kwiato, but not by much. A Sunday ride compared to Kennaugh & Intxausti seasons from hell, though. Henao was done in by injuries and Thomas and Froome are regrouping for 2017. Konig is onto his next team. Poels won a monument in April and absolutely bossed it in July. And if he surprises on Saturday he might have a case for a more successful end-to-end season than even Valverde. You'll definitely be hearing the peanut gallery chime in then.

Landa at least pass the forst climb and went onto the break in the flat.. he showed he is not bad. He get the shape very quicky, he could do well on satuday., or very bad, but you cant rule out yet.
I agree. Landa's a wildcard, he showed good form early in the Giro and in a couple of other races but has fallen ill at the worst times, and has therefore struggled with his consistency.

Well put.
