have you ever been to a md/gp and did they give you a physical?

Yes, in fact quite recently. I was a little displeased when he suggested that I could lose a pound or two - he isn't a size 8 himself, if you know what I mean.

Lol, something of an extreme example - if only they were all that obvious.

I've only posted what I think are clear cases.

I suppose as steroids don't change the bone structure, they just affect the facial muscles to give a more masculine appearance? 1 2

And there are those women that either have really bad skin or a five-o'clock shadow.3

Was going to add Montsho, but she's got really broad shoulders and narrow hips which make her look masculine, not just the muscle development.

If someone could find that picture of Cipollini as a youngster, I'll call that an obvious spot as well.

Yelena's picture has shown up in this thread before.

Here's a pic from a recent "Diamond League" event.

In her case her masseter muscles are huge if not just her jaw.

I have seen examples where both the masseter and temporalis muscles are highly developed.

Some of you may remember bodybuilder Tom Platz (70s-80s) who ended up looking like he was one the Kennedy clan!

When Yelena clenches her teeth it can be quite disconcerting as the muscles ball up into knotted lumps.

Of course it is entirely possible she was just born this way.

damn, looks like bodymass was relocated from the upper part of her head down to her jaws.
Btw: I subscribe to the boldface.

I feel betrayed by Herman Munster. The cheating so and so.

Keeping the theme of quality chins -David Coulthard going for the "wider than length" style F1 chin with added stubble.

Having gone through this thread the evidence is clearly compelling. Is there any reason that WADA has not ratified spot checks on people's jaws to see whether they should receive a ban or not?

Yikes!!

I do remember Tom Platz the bodybuilder. He was massive in all photos and surprisingly about 5'4".

Yet he won the heavyweight!! Yes, these are the roids we are looking for.

Is there such thing as a lantern forehead?

I think you have hit the nail on the lantern head.
Clearly this is the reason for one being the World ITT champ and the other being the World ITT chump.
Cranial aerodynamics.
Tony's forehead is the product of German wind tunnel testing.:D

lantern jaw n.
1. A lower jaw that protrudes beyond the upper jaw.
2. A long, thin jaw that gives the face a gaunt appearance.

. Lantern jaw; large hands and feet (acromegaly in an adult)________GROWTH HORMONE
2. Bulging eyeballs, nervous, increased pulse, weight loss, graves disease___________ THYROXIN
3. demineralization of bones, spontaneous fractures___________PARATHYROID HORMONE
4. Cushings syndrome-moon face, depression of the immune system__________CORTISOL
5. Abnormally large stature, normal body proportions__________ GROWTH HORMONE
6. Abnormal hairiness, masculinization________TESTOSTERONE

I thought of Michael Phelps when I saw the Lantern Jaw terminology.

Other examples would be good to see.

Just a point, I personally swam competitively at a fairly high level in the US, and swam with others who reached the NCAA and international levels of competition.

I have large hands. I have large feet. I am 6'2". I'm not sure if I have lantern jaw or not (I have a wide jaw with a bit of a protruding chin, but no underbite).

Here's the thing... most other male swimmers at the level I swam at and above also had large hands, large feet and were tall. The reason is that those trait are what was ideal for competitive swimming. I was a bit short for the top level to be honest. It's a sport tailored to tall, lean individuals with paddle like hands and feet. Those are the ones who reach the highest levels.

Would this be lantern jaw?

That's Mark Spitz. He was pre-HGH... so perhaps the jaw just goes along with the other traits that make for being a good swimmer?

of course, nobody denies this.

Doping can only enhance something that is already at a very decent level.
If your lung capacity sucks, you can blooddope all you like, you're not gonna win the tour de france. you need a very good lung capacity to begin with, which you can then enhance using PEDs.
same with swimming. you need to be tall and strong to begin with, and those qualities can then be enhanced turning you into a gold medal candidate.
iow:
very good lung capacity + PEDs = magnificent lung capacity.
paddle like hands + PEDs = lantern hands

Tony Martin's HEAD...hard as I try to see a changing head like Contadors - it does seem that its weight loss....which gives him that Lollipop head look (a large framed person who becomes skinny but cant change their head size to match the skinny body)
