Hope that Van der Poel can still ride the Tour, this is the most suited Tour for him in many years so it would be a real shame if he doesn't ride it.

I also hope that he reflects about his MTB goals because it seems to be hurting him more than anything else lately.

Mathieu won't win his missing rainbow this year, but maybe next if he goes all in.
Isn't that the issue - he can't go 'all in' as the bloody Tour gets in the way. After the Spring classics he should really concentrate solely on the MTB and nothing else. More races, more training, get UCI points, better starting grid, etc Currently he is up against it...

It seems like he needs more time on the MTB, meaning no road classics.

Does a scaphoid fracture automatically rule out the Tour?
No. Here's an article where the doctor of Pogacar's wrist fracture 2 years ago discusses it. Conclusion, we don't know yet.

Not imo, but it depends if the pain is manageable, long days on the bike in a fixed position, it's going to ache like hell, and if he can still grip handlebars effectively which is more important, at least with electric shifting he won't have to twist his wrist so often, so it's just can he use the brakes

Pog broke his in April few years back and was off the bike for 6weeks because they operated on it to fix it. He still rode the TdF that year.

MotoGP riders break them all the time and are back riding their next race.

Mindset of a super-champion with the freakish talent to back it up. You also got a glimpse of it in that interview clip when they asked him about whether he saw the footage of Pogi doing the PR recon earlier this spring.

I don’t care that much about other opinions. I do what I have in mind.
etbacks are part of it. It only makes me more determined to do better. It is up to me to prove that I still have mountain biking in me.

The Dauphine currently shows why it is particularly difficult for outstanding riders to win if they can't simply ride away on the climbs or if the terrain is so selective that you can get away well with attacks. VdP was in the sprint yesterday, he was in the group all day today and in the first stage with the classification riders when they attacked.

Many also say with other riders like Roglic, then he should just go in groups. That's what the other riders rarely want. Then they only look at one rider. And when the groups are as big as they were today and others are even better on the climbs, then it's super difficult even for someone like VdP to take the win.
