Likely same thing to MvP. He's going skiing now to unwind before next training block. Definitely my kind of training cycle (pun intended along with corniness).
It's kind of crazy that Jonas is contractually banned from putting in a few tiles in his kitchen, but Mathieu can hit the slopes less than two months before the biggest goals of his season.

Mathieu seems to pretty much have control over the pressures of competition. He's in an enviable position and only appears to apply pressure to himself; setting his priorities. It's difficult to envision him on JV, Ineos or other rigid setup.

Sinner* , Pog and MVDP go skiing.
Jonas and Verstappen, can't.

*to be fair, Sinner must be so good at skiing that if he takes it real easy it might be the equivalent of me hurting myself on blue, blue with a shade of green, slopes.
Not likely.
But still... you never know.

You have to manage a talent like MvdP carefully or you will mentally burn him out. He still probably has a good 2 years left near his peak physical powers. The last thing you'd want to do is burn him out and have him quit training hard and/or retiring early. I imagine Visma suffocates racers who want more from life than to just race a bike.
