I imagine if he stops cyclocross the organisers of the TDU will make a big play for him in 2027.

Likely same thing to MvP. He's going skiing now to unwind before next training block. Definitely my kind of training cycle (pun intended along with corniness).
It's kind of crazy that Jonas is contractually banned from putting in a few tiles in his kitchen, but Mathieu can hit the slopes less than two months before the biggest goals of his season.

Mathieu seems to pretty much have control over the pressures of competition. He's in an enviable position and only appears to apply pressure to himself; setting his priorities. It's difficult to envision him on JV, Ineos or other rigid setup.

Sinner* , Pog and MVDP go skiing.
Jonas and Verstappen, can't.

*to be fair, Sinner must be so good at skiing that if he takes it real easy it might be the equivalent of me hurting myself on blue, blue with a shade of green, slopes.
Not likely.
But still... you never know.

You have to manage a talent like MvdP carefully or you will mentally burn him out. He still probably has a good 2 years left near his peak physical powers. The last thing you'd want to do is burn him out and have him quit training hard and/or retiring early. I imagine Visma suffocates racers who want more from life than to just race a bike.

Ladies and gentlemen, please give it up to your favorite stand‑up comedian, the one the only Mr Roger De Vlaeminck

I want to ride, to race against those guys, beat them the way I sometimes could beat Merckx.

The grandpa may be preparing a huge comeback. Pogi and Matthieu are screwed in the spring classics.

What do you think about next winter for him regarding CX? Ive read different interviews some citing this will be his last, others suggest it will be more compromised but not completely gone, with a more methodical prep for the road season going forward which I personally find logical. But to which extent im not sure what to expect.

I think he has a lot of fun doing CX so maybe instead of stopping he'll reduce his CX schedule. 1 hour of very intense training session per week isn't that much but injury risk is some concern.

Now that he is the record holder for WC victories, he should focus on the road and MTB. Get some records in monuments, and Olympic gold/WC in MTB

He will be mightily pissed off this year when he gets knocked down from 2nd all time on the monuments list to likely 4th if the monuments play out similarly to the last 2 years.

If he won 5 Roubaix it would be cool I have to admit. But I already view him as arguably the best cobble classic rider, win vs entries matters to me there aswell. But I guess these remaining years will dictate it.

Pogi isnt a cobble classics rider though. He just casually shows up for the biggest ones and crush em, apart from one time he rode E3. MvdP is definitely the best cobble classic rider of this generation not classic rider.

Maybe he goes for the rest, if he wins P-R
