Why do they send Uran and Henao up the road?

To relay back to the team the places on mountains where there are no fans;)

Surely that's what Bernie Eyesel is for.

I'll get my coat.

Farrar pretty much flat out accused Cav of holding onto a car or drafting at the Tour last year despite being minutes up the road and having not actually seen anything himself. The reality was that HTC did a monster mini team time trial through the valley and kept him in the race before controlling and winning the next day's sprint stage.

The UCI commissaires haven't exactly been shy of punishing Cavendish in the past so why would they have had a change of heart over the last year or so?

And the most damning fact in Cavendish's favour is that despite the thousands of people who line the route of these stages every day (which will include plenty of Cav haters if this forum is anything to go by ;)), not once has any footage been discovered of him holding onto cars or drafting for excessive amounts of time.

A couple of Tifosi pushing him up a hill. That's all you've got.

The UCI doesn't officiate at races. They are the governing body not race judges. Each race has it's own appointed and accredited officials.

You need to brush up on your facts.

You what? The race judges are designated by the UCI. I think you need to brush up on your facts.

There's no footage of Jimmy Casper either.

But see, I have no reason to believe Ventoso would lie about this, so I can't completely dismiss the notion that Cav might have overdone it. Some of you get rather defensive about this.

Strange that after the accusation, the only evidence that came to light was a photo of Ventoso & Co holding on to a car, whilst Cav rode alone behind.

The photos were of the group Cav was in, but most of the photos incriminated Chicchi rather than anyone else. Ventoso wasn't in that group. On the stage in question he finished way ahead of Cav. Hence the "more likely a rumour he had believed and commented on" post.

Ventoso finished in the main autobus at 24'43", Cavendish last of all in the laughing group at 26'32". This was the stage when he had allegedly been in the same group as Brown and McEwen at the base of the final climb, but they finished at 59' and were thrown out of the race. It may be hearsay, it may be that once Brown and McEwen were dropped from the laughing group they just soft-pedaled in knowing they'd get thrown out. Because the group he finished in and the group he was supposedly in finished more than half an hour apart people made the assumption he'd been carried for far more than may have in fact been the case (if any at all, at least more than is the general thing with sprinters). It could easily be that the autobus knew they were safe and rode the final climb at a slower pace than the group that feared they might be thrown out.

At the same time, Danilo Napolitano was also in the group Cav finished in, and I outright refuse to believe Cavendish is a worse climber than him.

It's against the rules no less. We don't need more then that. If Cav wants to destroy all doubts then why doesn't he post the data his little computer on the bike collected during a Tour stage?

Besides, I don't believe for once Cav can come in 33 minutes behind on a hilly stage, still be fresh enough to win 2 stages and then survive the time cut in the mountain stages. It's not a little bit suspicious, it's EXTREMELY suspicious.

The time he's behind means nothing, you ****ing genius. Why should Cav give a **** if he's 20 minutes behind or 30 when the time cut is 35 minutes on a stage he has 0 chance to win? In fact, in my scenario he went 4 1/2 minutes too fast.

He had only 30 seconds and his group went extremely fast in final 10 km, it is not like that he was comfortable to stay in the race

Which stages are you talking about? Cav finished 33 minutes behind on stage 6 and has had only one stage win since - stage 13. There were two sprint finishes in the meantime, on the first one he lost places on a climb, got close to the front but then was involved in a crash, on the second his lead-out man pulled his foot out and slowed, slowing Cavendish down. Cavendish did then try and sprint but perhaps didnt have the power that he does have sometimes.

Right. Quick question, do you believe that Gilbert and Boonen have never taken a little push from someone at the side of the road? I would imagine he doesn't post his data because you're the only one asking for it, and to be honest, I'm pretty sure he thinks about you a lot less than you think about him. It would be a lot of hassle, and you would only say it was faked anyway.

Odd how Cicchi isn't getting a Pistrollero bashing for actually being shown to have been holding on to a car, not just accused of it. Wait, no, it's not odd, he rides for the same team as Boonen, he must be a saint. You don't think that you're maybe a little, y'know, obsessed with Cav, do you?

Don't try to bring others in to it - he doesn't care.

Full on King Herod mode - kill all the new-borns if that's what it takes to catch out the one he hates.

I wouldn't give a **** if Chicchi, Boonen or Gilbert got thrown out of a GT.

I think you're obsessed with Cav because I wouldn't have cared at all if they threw Gilbert out of the Tour after he missed the time cut last year. In fact, I even said I wanted him out that day.

So, what point are you making here? Chichi should have been thrown out of the Giro '11 and Cav should be thrown out this year. Simple as that.

None of my favorite riders are saints, but at least they don't suck so hard that they lose 33 minutes on a hilly stage. Cav doesn't post his data because he knows the truth. ;) GT stages would be a lot better if less sprinters made it to the time cut and got thrown out of the race. I'm all for throwing them out. Whether that's a rider I like or hate. I know they're never going to throw out big group of riders that miss the time cut, but I can dream right(for commercial purposes alone already)? :)

After his crash there was a rest day. Then came the team time trial where he looked good enough to do some pulls and finish with the first 5. He WON the stage after that.

So what the hell are you talking about?

Maybe your heroes would give up rather than carry on battling away with an injury? There's a bit of a difference between sprinting at the end of a stage and riding hard for hour after hour. Also, Cav had been with his family the previous evening, maybe he spent too long celebrating his win.

Also, Cav doesnt post his data but Eisel, who was riding in front of Cav on said stage, does. Biggest effort was stage 6.

If we threw riders out of GTs for not stopping tifosi from pushing them, we'd have very few left at all. The point I'm making here is that you are utterly obsessed with seeing Cavendish fail, to the point that reason fails you.

Why bother posting the data? It'd be preaching to the choir - those who believe him will continue to do so and anti-fanboys would just say it was Eisel's data or something. I could even see you claiming that Cavendish was only posting it because he knew the truth and was trying to lay a smokescreen.

What does that have to do with anything? You do know one of my "heroes"(he's not a hero lol) is Contador? The guy that came back from near death to win the Tour? The guy that won the Giro with a fractured elbow?

The worst problem Cav has had so far in his career are teeth problems he caused him self.

Do you really want to compare the two?

Let's see, another hero of mine had a fractured skull in April and won 2 Tour stages in July. Your turn now. :)

In those videos the tifosi are watching all the riders go by and only push when they see the rainbow jersey. Riders need to signal the tifosi to stop pushing, those are the rules.

If you're not good enough to make the time cut by your self, then you don't really belong in the Giro...

I should have been more clearer, I think the stage was perhaps 4 days later, But considering Cav said he was still feeling the affects of the crash a week later, that can perhaps be excused.

Either way, he came in with the main bus today, 33 mins down. The aim of the majority within the bus is to come in within the time limit, rather than coming in as quick as they can. I have no issue with Cav coming in last in every mountain stage, He is a sprinter, and a bloody good one at that!

I have no problem with Cav making the time cut today either. But that doesn't mean he would've made the time cut on stage 6 without the help of some tifosi. ;) He narrowly missed that, so those pushes definitely helped a lot.

Crashes are sadly part of the game, I do not see that as an excuse. He was good enough in the team time trial and the sprint plus he had a rest day. Stage 6 was hilly by the way, not quite mountainous. A hard stage, but not nearly as hard as the stages that are coming up now.
