Yes, the british thing aint true. They will support Bernal if he is stronger and they have already supported Bernal in THIS year's Tour.

Back on point, I think a lot of people questioned, myself included, where Sky’s next big GC prospect would come from. Froome may only have a year or so left at the top, but Bernal has now proven he has what it takes to go for GC next season.

He should be Sky’s leader for many years to come, but it’ll be interesting where Bernal, Thomas and Froome’s targets are next year. My guess would be Bernal Giro, Froome and Thomas Tour. Though perhaps Bernal will go for the Vuelta and the other two spilt up between Giro/Tour.

You think Thomas will extend? He'll get sole leadership and a huge sack of money somewhere else

A month ago I’d have said no, but now I think Its possible he signs for another year. I don’t think the money is an issue, it depends what he wants next year. If both Thomas and Froome want to focus solely on the Tour, then I suppose that could be a problem.

As long as Bernal gets a shot at the Giro or Vuelta I’m happy.

Yeah the Sky British thing is horse manure. When have they ever had the strongest rider that hasn't been favoured because of his nationality?

Hehe not even able to read basic level French, valv?

He says that he looked and looked for the next Froome and that eventually he has chosen Bernal to be the successor.

Froome will almost certainly be sole leader for Tour next year, with Thomas probably given Giro. Thomas will then go on to support Froome at the Tour, while Bernal will probably also ride the Tour, to support Froome and build up for Vuelta. Then Bernal will lead at the Vuelta, either on his own or co-leading with Froome depending on what Dawg wants

Based on what?

Bernal will be 22, I doubt he'll be doing back to back GTs no matter how good he is.

Froome will want to go for his 5th Tour. And I do think they want one of Thomas or Bernal to be co leader.

Bernal vs Thomas would likely depends also depends on routes.

Contador is on Eurosport now with Nico Roche. He was very complementary and impressed with Bernal and said Thomas better win this Tour, because Bernal won’t be waiting around for him for long.

This is the type of rider that will not win without the Sky system and powerful team. IMHO. But there always going to be someone willing to pay.

I don't think there's any way G will remain with Sky under those circumstances. I believe he'll only ride for a team where he's guaranteed leadership at the Tour next year, or at least co-leadership with Froome which would mean no Giro for him.

Thomas has the soul of a domestique. I’ll be pleasantly surprised if he does anything other than resume life as a highly paid sidekick.

I don't think that at all. He'd already been talking about leaving in order to get a chance to be the GT leader on a team and he's led plenty in week long stage races and cobbled classics.

He has talked about leaving every two years to increase his pay offer at Sky, then every time he has taken the money to play third fiddle. He will currently be convinced that decision was wise.

He talks about leaving every year, without fail

I just cant ever see Thomas in anything other than Sky colours, this year has given him more leverage than ever to get the right deal to stay put.
