No, it is what it is. He almost died, and was gravely ill in the prime of life, right on the doorstep to a reasonably comfortable lifestyle; there is no way you can come back from all that without being humbled by the disease.

What a load of mythological bullsh!t. I went through the same thing. I even made plans for how to commit suicide if my cancer treatment did not work out. Experiences affect different people differently. Some people may be changed. Others may have their personality traits, good or bad, reinforced. Some people spend the rest of their lives using the experience as a pathetic way to garner sympathy by referring to themselves as "survivors."

Some people are sociopaths, and I suspect Armstrong is one of them. A man who makes money by cynically lying to people with terminal disease when he is already wealthy does not have much in the way of emotion or empathy. He is a Bernie Madoff-like scumbag who defrauds people to stroke his own ego.

You never get clear of HIV. BroDeal just has to keep taking the drugs for life and make sure his boyfriend doesn't catch it.

He's a brave soul.

I'm not making fun of cancer. It was just a little joke.

I think many of the posts belittling Armstrong's work against cancer, and BroDeal's mocking of Armstrong's use of the term "survivor", to be uncalled for.

Did you report that as well?

Do you really need post after post after post after post after post after post to tell us that opinion though?

The philanthropy is just a cynical strategy to keep him out of Roger Clemens, Barry Bonds territory.

I couldn't agree less. If he had just quietly retired no one would have given a toss about him after a few months. By continuing to promote himself and his foundation he keeps himself in the public arena and therefore is fair game for speculation and investigation. Hardly a good move if he were trying to do what you say.

There are probably a number of reasons, ego included that he wants to do that, but deflecting attention isn't one of them.

We'd all have to agree it's a cynical strategy designed to keep him in the public eye as long as he can profit from it. That and he appears to have a sociopathic need to be in the limelight.

Its called narcissism, and he has a bad case. Unfortunately, there is no chemo or radiation treatment. Its incurable.

Congratulations!! Written with all the moral ethics of your basic worm. No, sorry, worms are useful. Make that your basic snake. No, wait, they're useful too. Let me re-phrase: written with all the moral ethics that make the US of A the most reviled nation on earth.

No, I am not attacking USAmericans. Most are fine people, but a high-profile minority seem determined to blight the human landscape with a philosophy that predates the "invention" of philosophy. I'd call LA one of them.

Strong words (no, no pun intended)- but as you say, "some people are", and of course that means some people are not. I honestly cannot say for LA what the case may be because I have never met the guy. But you know, most sociopaths are very skilled at manipulating people they come into contact with into liking them- and by most accounts that seems to be the opposite reaction of those who have met him though. I am not one to hand over money to strangers so my personal investment if his story is fraudulent would amount to a mild disappointment. I was far more disappointed when Riis made his revelation

I don't know where you come from but what poll shows the US as most reviled nation? I would think that nation is where all of us internet capable, financially sophisticated (notice I didn't say satisfied, some are clearly not),socially cloistered and grasping pseudo-atheletes live.

By the way you were right to rise to the worm floating on the pond...attached to a troll hook. I guess that's why they do it; it draws out the pious ones.

It is offensive that you make fun of his fight for life against the cancer by saying the cure won't work for somebody with psyco disorders. This thread drips with the psyco disorders of the jealous. Just because he kicks tail makes everybody envy his accomplishments and they take potshots at him. He is above all of this fortunately.

Have you read any of his tweets?? They (his words) say he is not above the level of a pre-pubescent 13 year old girl.

He is just having fun on the tweeter with the fans. You must take it serious when it is just for fun. I think people in here are not poking fun with the hate so that is different.

Oh, I am certainly not poking fun. He is the biggest sporting fraud in the history of cycling not because he is the only one who doped, but because of the things that have come out of his mouth about it, and his actions towards people who have dared question his statements and actions. On top of that, he has muddied the waters between cancer activism and profit.

Past that, I think we probably see things quite alike...

I can't think of a country more disliked than the US, as a nation rather than as a people.

That just goes to show the power of propoganda has to sway people- there's a big difference between like/dislike and right/wrong. ( I am Canadian by the way)
