The samples will be ten years old this July. Samples are 'valid' for years. I remember reading that samples from the first clinical trials of EPO in the 70s would/are still valid now. I'm too tired to find/remember where I saw that so maybe someone else will put up a link..

That would put his weight post-cancer at 56 kilos, which is 123.2 pounds

?! I've never seen anything - articles, quotes etc.. anywhere that say his weight was that low.

Yes, I was just following the math. I'll dig up the article and quote it directly later today.

It doesn't make any sense to me either, I just posted the numbers.

What do you think of Lance's weight difference between his 1993 World Championship win and his 1999 Tour de France win?

It's difficult to believe that he lost a lot of weight.

Here's something for the Lance Ironman fans. He's apparently having a Time Trial race against Chris Lieto on the Ironman course. Armstrong chose the 14 mile distance, which is exactly one eighth of Ironman distance. Lieto can't mess up a day of training, so he's swimming first. Have fun.

The gauntlet was thrown down yesterday when Armstrong posted the following on his Twitter account: “Just passed @chrislieto going the other way. He was hammerin. Hey Chris, a little TT showdown on the Queen K tomorrow?"

Lieto appeared to take up the challenge, inviting Armstrong to contact him directly to work out a time and place. "See u on the Queen-K! Will have to be after 8am cause I have to swim first. Flying out mid day. Give me a call."

Armstrong replied, laying out the details. "Queen K Hwy TT Challenge. Tomorrow 9:30am. Start - Waikeloa Beach Dr to Kukio Nui Dr. 14 miles. Full gas. Take it easy on me"

Lieto also invited Armstrong to square up against him with a swim, but the latter said that RadioShack team manager Johan Bruyneel would block such a contest.

Let me straighten you out, as someone who has been directly affected by this disease. Cancer patients look to their loved ones for support and inspiration. From the oncologists to the nurses who administer the chemotherapy to their family and friends. These are the people that are there fighting the good fight alongside them, day in and day out.

So no one who looks to Lance as an inspiration is a legitimate cancer patient in your book? Duly noted.

Berzin said:
This is where I draw the line with this guy and everything he stands for. The fact that he takes credit for being "an inspiration to millions" is beyond egotistical-it is cowardly and patently false. Of all the lies he's perpetrated, this is the one I cannot stomach.

Noted, and I welcome your opinion and thoughts in this internet forum.

Berzin said:
I take it the adage "Live and let live" means absolutely nothing to you. I wonder out loud why someone out looking to enjoy and support the sport by wearing pro team kit is any of your business.

Apparently my opinion and thoughts aren't welcomed by you. Whatever. This is an internet forum isn't it? It isn't like I see a guy in team kit and run him off the road. I just giggle inside. Aren't forums a place for people to spout off, which is basically what my thoughts on pro team kit amount to.

If this is like, gonna be chiseled on my gravestone or used in some sort of legal proceeding, maybe I should have just taken the 5th. I don't know what made me think this was an internet forum....Sorry. I'll try not to express any opinions in the future, but no promises.

I didn't take offense, I'm just tired of the bullshyte and wanted to take this time to correct this misconception.

There are many people who think Armstrong hovers over every cancer patient's life from the second they get diagnosed to the time they (hopefully) go into remission and recover. This is patently false and nothing could be further from the truth.

The spreading of this propaganda for the purposes of self-aggrandizement by his army of lapdogs and fanboys makes me sick, and it's about time someone said something about it.

Apparently your issue is more with people that look to him rather than my observation that that is how some cancer patients treat him.

how the fock did I end up defending Lance? sheesh...ya say one half way complimentary thing about the guy and suddenly I am King Fanboy. :D Go read 2 of my posts regarding Lance. egads. it's like 1984 in here sometimes.

It didn't look particularly steep, but then I can't really tell from the angle. It looks like a beautiful place to ride though.
Hmm I also always thought that Swiss mountains are false plat, but I saw them suffer too. Probably eyes that way because of the wide roads, plus that it's an older man.

i'm curious as to why you took such offense at ravens' suggestion that cancer patients might look at la for inspiration. i think any survivor is an inspiration, as well as the people you mention.

People who call themselves survivors are douches looking for sympathy from other people. I have never heard someone who lived through a bad car wreck go through the rest of their life calling themselves a survivor.

You'd have to ask Berzin. He stated 'No Cancer Patient.' Apparently he knows who is and who is not.

People have said something about it, ad nauseam, in fact.

Just curious why you feel the need to correct this misconception that you have obviously imagined, or a the very least, exaggerated. Take your own advice: "live and let live." Regardless, if the disease has affected you or not, It's really none of your business where individual cancer patients look for inspiration. If Lance and his story gives people strength, who are you to question them?

Unless they're on that team right?

Wow, you have a ton of unjustified hostility: Lance, cancer survivors, the olympics.

Yikes

I really thought my original post was really inoccuous, and on top of that, the team kit cr@p was just a throwaway line regarding the asphalt color in RS's kit.

In all sincerity, I am really sorry for any raw nerves I touched. I had no idea.

And just to make it clear, no matter who I see on a bike, I slow down and give them more than ample room.

PS: It was with respect to pro team kit, I don't think any members of T-Mobile or US Postal ride in my 'hood.

Maybe if you more than two brain cells that were connected to each other then you would be able to figure out that some people do not see finding inspiration in a fraud as a good thing. But, hey, who am I to say that you and your ends justify the means philosophy is wrong. Sure people who believe like you killed millions last century, but it might just be a coincidence.

If a jerkoff like patricknd wants to bring it because he throws a hissy fit every time someone disagrees with his opinion then I am perfectly willing to take it to the matresses.

I have a friendly suggestion for myself, there is some sort of tension here I was unaware of, think I'll bail on this thread for a little while.
