Epic race, full of drama and a deserving winner.
Pity for Nibble and Henao, they would have gone all the way quite surely and would sprinted in slow motion for gold!

I'm a big Nibali fan (bigger than GVA despite being Belgian), but holy *** what an awesome race... This might just be the best race I've ever watched.

If only Nibs and Henao didn't crash...its almost clear one of the trio would've won.

Ah well. Sour grapes.

I still can't believe though that Nibali crashed. He played it so perfectly, Italy's tactics were so genius and absolutely everything worked and then he crashes. Chapeau to him and Henao.

Lol, and imagine Peter Sagan skipped this race on purpose.

Yeah that doesn't seem like a very good decision right now. He's not exactly likely to win gold in the MTB especially since I think he'll have bad starting position.

Well, GVA has his big one day win. Correction, he's got the biggest one day win.

I'm so sad for Henao and Nibali

Exactly. Crazy decision.
Yep, all that talk about how hard the race was. Ultimately it was too hard for most of the pure climbers, not the one day specialists.

The psychology of cycling. If Allaphillipe had gone with Fuglsang and GVA they wouldn't have worked as well together and Majka would have gold. Think Allaphillipe might have got caught up in a crash in the descent as he kept checking his saddle. A shame for Italy who worked best as a team, and for Henao, but a worthy podium.

Fantastic race and a great advert for smaller teams and no team radios.

Lets never hear people say that GC climbers would be great at one day racing if they tried it again. One day racing is different.

Roubaix?

Anyway, what a great race and deserved winner.
