Didnt know he had a serious car accident (i understand not cycling related) two monts ago. Five surgeries and two pending.

He what? I knew about him being injured - it's the reason the team temporarily extended Richeze - but I wasn't aware it was because of a car accident.

Or... did he get injured again?

I understand that hes injuries were only do to that car accident and that they - for some strange reason - kept the accident in secret.

He's still riding with UAE next season isn't he? Unless something else has happened since I last read anything that prevents him from doing so contractually or physically.

Iljo Keisse said in a podcast 2 months ago that he does not expect to see Hodeg back at a high level ever again so yeah that says something about his situation.

Keisse actually was very positive about Hodeg as a person so I don't know about that.
And it was a podcast from 2 months ago and I don't think they have daily or even monthly contact so his situation could be better now (hopefully).

He's making his comeback in Giro di Sicilia this week, 18 months after his last race. Maybe he'll never get back to his previous best level, but at least things seem to be moving in a better direction.

8th today... he didn't really push for the win... but just to see him able to keep up with the pro peloton again when the stage today was not that easy, it's nice.
