Didnt know he had a serious car accident (i understand not cycling related) two monts ago. Five surgeries and two pending.

He wont race 2022 i think. The UAE colombian sprinters going through bad times.

He what? I knew about him being injured - it's the reason the team temporarily extended Richeze - but I wasn't aware it was because of a car accident.

Or... did he get injured again?

I understand that hes injuries were only do to that car accident and that they - for some strange reason - kept the accident in secret.

This is the info you get from PCS:

Current injuries
  • Out with Fractured ankle,Fractured wrist (Crash)

Of course, I guess "crash" doesn't specify "bike crash", I just... sort of assumed it.

Apparently, it's news that he can ride a bike. It sounds like a horrible period he has been having.

Iljo Keisse said in a podcast 2 months ago that he does not expect to see Hodeg back at a high level ever again so yeah that says something about his situation.

Oh my. I mean, I think Keisse and Hodeg never got along well, but he might be right. I am so sorry for Hodeg. I feel so sad.

Keisse actually was very positive about Hodeg as a person so I don't know about that.
And it was a podcast from 2 months ago and I don't think they have daily or even monthly contact so his situation could be better now (hopefully).

He's making his comeback in Giro di Sicilia this week, 18 months after his last race. Maybe he'll never get back to his previous best level, but at least things seem to be moving in a better direction.

I have to confess that I totally forgot about this guy, I didn't even recognize his name at first.
It is sad to see a promising career cut short by injury.

according to the PCS rankings, this guy is the 147th best in the world this season. Ahead of chris froome, egan bernal, simon yates, carapaz, quintana, Tao, & G. Those guys have won like 10 grand tours between them you know.

Makes you think
