Fail - it still allows the same end of season cut off to occur - your complaint could just as easily, and incorrectly, be made against the current system.

This just makes the mid-season jersey feel a bit more meaningful.

Personally, no jersey at all would be super.

The Worlds Cup jersey was pretty cool. And people really cared for that one. Some interesting battles were fought out over the hills of Lombardia.

I would like to see it return in this World Tour. For example Joaquim Rodriguez would have worn it this year and who ever wins it this year wears the jersey the next year. It will bring back the prestige races like HEW Cyclassics used to have.

Only a select few could ever dream of wearing it though- Valverde, Rodriguez, Contador and Gilbert. The best of the best.

I would like to see it return in this World Tour.

It did return, in PCM (2010 version at least): black and white halved job. Although that is current leader rather than previous year's champion.

An other cool thing about the world cup jersey: riders like Museeuw and Van Petegem won RVV or PR and also tried to get some points in AGR and LBL. Something only Gilbert tries to do now (he would have no competition for this jersey this season)
