Berrettini really rolled Hurkacz, who was legit awful for a big stretch that match.

Djoko just shithoused and mentally broke Shapovalov.
The best thing is that our local media in South Tyrol can no longer pretend that Berrettini doesn't exist and that Sinner is the only good Italian Tennis player (like they did for the last 2 years).

For the record, I like Sinner and he was born in my hometown, I have npthing against him.

Thought Barty would be too strong in the final. Without the hip injury I think she would have gone close at the French as well.

Barty is the top story down under this morning. Great to see. She has a huge lead at the top of the rankings now. She had to fight for it but in defeating 6'2" Pliskova that's another tall big serving scalp. I always like to see players win with skill and guile not simply a big serve and raw power.

In short, "just work harder bruv".

It never ceases to amaze me how 1) many of Federers low-key respect him him the least and how 2) advice many fans think players should get is so stupendously basic as if the player completely and utterly clueless.

Djokovic giving feedback on some 7 year old Japanese kid had more technical depth and detail 99% of fans wouldnt think of

I believe the kids actually say, “get good scrub.”

Gasquet has been just going to tournaments for fun the last five years. When was the last time he played well in a GS tournament? Alcaraz is a talent, but beating a washed up and anemic 35 year old Gasquet should be taken with a pinch of salt.

I don't base it on wiping out Gasquet, I base it on the entire tournament run and the technique, power and movement he already posesses.

Playing the mixed doubles along with singles on top of the season so far doesn't look like the best choice now.
I have no inside information, but wouldn't surprise me Đoković's decision to play mix wasn't all his.
Been uncertain for the Olympics altogether, let alone two competitions.

Djokovic' very own 40-15, and the choke and worst loss of his career IMO.

The Golden Slam seems to be evaporating. What a pity that it's Zverev of all people who beats him. But he can still pull off a Grand Slam, if he can set his mind to it.
Depends a bit on why he lost today, if it's a choke or the elbow injury flaring up again. But him playing mixed makes you think it's the former.

Nobody is forcing Djokovic to play mixed if he doesn't want to lol. But he loves playing for Serbia, so he might have taken too much on his plate for that reason.

Some inside info?

Some inside info?

“ Djokovic came back on the court little more than an hour later to play with Serbian partner Nina Stojanovic in the mixed doubles semifinals against the Russian duo of Elena Vesnina and Aslan Karatsev.

It's the third consecutive day that Djokovic was playing two matches.

Viktor Troicki, Serbia's Olympic team coach, told The Associated Press on Thursday that the entire team was against Djokovic playing mixed doubles because they didn't want the event to tire him out with so much on the line in singles.”

That has to be physically exhausting playing 6 matches in 3 days after the season he has had.

That's not inside.
Allow me to have a better insight into Olympic "traditions", surrounding atmosphere and influential suggestions around here.

You demand inside info to a claim that's quite outlandish in the first place. Djokovic' own team would've undoubtedly been against playing mixed doubles especially with the CYGS on the line. The Serbian Olympic Committee is probably already happy he played in the first place. Unless you suggest some mafia like *** going on that they can force him to play too much lol.

It's strange to hesitate even to enter the Games and then to decide to play two events.
You're not far off with the mafia hint, but corruption would be a closer description.
I suppose you have all the information about his postcareer plans and meetings around here during the spring... and the latest organized crimes' investigations.
It's not a laughing-out-loud topic.

I’m curious about this source. A quick Google search with Novak Djokovic Organized Crime only comes up with articles on a game he organized and he got COVID at.

You won't find anything connecting him with organized crime. And I hope it stays that way.
The greed of people he depends on in his plans might reel him in into something he doesn't belong to.
Unfortunately, it seems to me the deals are pretty much shaped up.

The articles I could direct you to are in Serbian, and are related to high corruption suspicion in real estate field, influence peddling and statements of suspects in a case for which an indictment is raised today.
Nothing related to Đoković, but knowing his postcareer (and already realized) plans, political and business customs here, the probability of his Olympics participation being a part of the deal is sky-high.

Edit:
And just to be clear, his participation and choice of the events he'll compete in I'd equally address to public pressure, his own ambitions and already mentioned deals.
I doubt he would've taken part in two events should all three factors haven't been involved.

Djokovic' parents borrowed money to fund his tennis career I think, and it might have been from loan sharks. But that was long ago, and I don't think he's lived primarily in Serbia since he was a teenager.
