If the women could learn to serve a bit better and if matches weren't so short or one-sided then maybe the money they receive would be more justified. I really don't like watching women's tennis.

Pat Cash was saying on commentary how ridiculous it is - he argued that the women should either play best of 5 like the men or get paid less. Up until last year, Wimbledon paid different amounts of prize money to the respective competitions, but then eventually bowed to pc pressure (and to fall into line with all the other slams)

Hmm, it's exactly why i prefer women's tennis over men's. As if he pays these money himself

Even then he still went on to beat Nadal easy in Madrid and complete his GS in the French and get a bit lucky against Roddick at Wimbledon, and narowly lose to Del Potro in the US and win the AO.

This was the same year Rafa beat Djokovic in Madrid wasn't it - in the semis? It crushed him - he said in the media it was best he'd ever played and still couldn't beat him - and his performances nosedived for a long time... how things have turned themselves round now. I do wonder if Rafa will go through the same thing, but I doubt it.

Waiting for the quarters too. If you like and watch too many sports, you can get picky about what level of competition you want to see.

BTW can I say, in general, not just for tennis; thank the Gods for Eurosport! In many countries they are the only free channel broadcasting snooker, tennis, cycling etc.

Yes the Djokivic-Seppi match is interesting.

I'm sort of relieved Azarenka is out. Her moaning is parodical.

What the hell, Federer? Just got swept 0-3 against Djokovic.
Novak is terrific but this should normally have been an exciting, tight game...

Its sad to see a great champion like roger slowly decline like that.
Its always sad in general.
Something which would happen or already has happened to the likes of menchov, cadel, basso very soon.

Roger is in an entirely different league of athletes, and subsequently in an entirely different league of declines.
I mean, semis in a Grand Slam. Most of tennis players out there would be satisfied with one semi in a Grand Slam during their whole career :D

A Wimbledon - Olympics double is my dream, though very difficult to achieve.
