I would like to ask "Logic", who seems to know everyting about Van Wilder, what the problem of Van wilder is this season and especially those last weeks (apart from his unfortunate crash). We know he is very irregular. But at least he should have a few good days. Is he overtrained (during altitude training) ?

He is like Dumoulin or Almeida. He can pace himself very well. Sometimes, having a teammate with him, it can slow him down.
The problem with Evenepoel, is that, even fading/agonising, he still paces (or try to pace). Other riders, also dropped a bit later, then always sit in his wheel.

Side effects from long altitude training just before Dauphiné.

Why not 4-5 kg ? Or 10 kg ?
Because he's too stocky to hit the kind of numbers uphill necessary for the Tour. 2-3 is maybe doable, 4-5 with the time remaining impossible without adverse effects. But the broken scapula threw a spanner in the works. Still I would have thought his weight would have been lower at the Dauphine.

Well, I think the level of Horner in the butterfly effect is higher than the level of 95 % of the people on this forum. Even though I don't always agree with him (but's that's ok). Today he said that he believed Evenepoel would be at top form at the start of the Tour. I think he's right. Although I don't think he will be quite at 100 %, but at 99,5 %. Horner also said that the main problem of Evenepoel would be his team (not a surprise). Especially the case of Van Wilder. It has been below par all season. He was still mediocre during the first stages of the Dauphiné, resulting in underperforming in the TT. After which he had to give up due to his crash. It seems impossible that Van Wilders will be in shape at the start of the Tour. Which means Landa is the only climber in the team. The only helper in the final of mountain stages. But not able to support Evenepoel in the final climb after having brought water bottles and food to the front from the team leader's car all the time. Van Wilder's too low level was not predictable. But why did the team let the third climber, Hirt, participate at the Giro. He did well, with an eight place. But he should have been in the Tourteam instead of riding a top 10 in the Giro.
Maybe. If you can get through his repetitive blather and glean insights, you're a more patient person than I. There are some very good posters on this forum, which is what keeps me coming here. The format is so different I don't see how a comparison makes sense.

I don't think Evenepoel is going to be at 100%, however we define that. Vuelta '22? Giro '23? Something like that. Don't see it. Maybe by the end.

His team definitely sucks, on several levels. Remco will not win the Tour with this team. Leadership, teammates, etc. It's all second rate compared to the other teams. Van Wilder isn't why he lost time in the Dauphine, he's just not fit enough.

Don't get the argument for Horner as analyst. Never heard him say much of interest.

Prediction time guys.

How many stages will he win at the Tour.
Realistically, he has no chance of winning it with Pogacar there.
I have a feeling he'll take 2/3 stages and have a good experience in his first Tour.

If he hasn't suffered injuries/crashes he should be a strong favorite in both time trials. I'm not sure why people think that either Pog or Jonas would be close.

Ganna/Tarling sure, but anyone else is completely remote.

I also think he may get away for at least another stage so my prediction is 3 stages.

The general line of thinking is, that the last TT is on the last day, after 3 weeks of fatigue build up which people believe suits Vingegaard and Pogacar better, while being almost a mountain TT, with roughly 9k 6% and 1.5k 8% climbs in the middle.

I've read that it was the year where he was best prepared to face off Armstrong, the team fully believed that he could do it. And then the look.
Yeah he put a blistering 30 seconds into Christophe Moreau the day of the look.

I just want to clear up a common myth about the name "Logic", since people sometimes appear to get triggered by it. He's actually the descendant of Serbian immigrants, you see, and that's just his last name.

And one of the rumored reasons all the drug issues occurred after the race and he sat out from the 2002 edition was due to being in such good shape and still getting destroyed by Armstrong.

What is the current consensus on Remco’s Tour plan? All in on GC through all 3 weeks, or will he get tempted to go stage hunting and prioritize Olympics?
