I don't think the number of times you win Tour of Belgium and Volta ao Algarve is what makes a great stage racer (Tony Martin has won 10 stage races).

A Vuelta win is of course better than finishing twice second in the Tour, yet it can still be argued that 6 GT podiums (in a row!) including a silver double like Dumoulin, is a more solid record for a stage racer than only a singular GT top-10 finish (which was the Vuelta victory, so less impressive than the record of Geoghegan Hart whose singular GT top-10 was a Giro victory).
Yeah. I agree. Too bad Evenepoel's career is already over at the age of 24. You have to agree, making such claims about a rider who won the Vuelta at 22 years of age, is laughable at best.

Sure. Let's compare the career of a 24-year-old with the final tally of full gas Chiapucci.

Anyway. The point was not to argue about whether Remco is a great stage racer for the millionth time, but to have a laugh about CN's editorial insert. Pretty funny IMO. YMMV.

It was @red_flanders who brought up CN's comparison of their respective palmarès. I don't think such a comparison dismisses in itself what Chiappucci said, upon scrutiny.

You brought it up, no?

Sure. Delete/ignore the relevant part about why I brought it up and bang on yet again about Remco. Yay.
You wanted it to be one way.

As does 99% of the peloton. Rodriguez is probably also aiming for top 5, is that ok? I keep hearing Evenepoel isn’t GT material, but when he goes for top 5 he should aim higher?
He isnt GC material untill he is GC material thats the nature of how conseption is viewed and works in the world.

Keep the faith not everyone have unlocked those keys at age 24 on the contrary if you go by history.

Probably the lens. Hah!
Looks like a 24mm. Makes the face look wide and the neck thin. But then I'm just saying he looks fit, not making .5 kilo definitive statements. Hah...hah! ;)
Seriously though, he is visibly more lean than during Dauphiné. Halfway this clip -if you pause it- you can get a better view. Let's see where it takes him.

Yeah he looks tan, fit, ready. Sounds ready. Sounds like he's being smart. Hope he can keep himself contained.

Hope his team can be something approximating reasonable. He's gonna need 'em.

For the sake of the Tour & also the chances of Pog's rivals, I do hope this rider has his best legs. His stated goal (top 5 & a stage win) is quite ambitious & pretty much mirrors the goals he set himself - at least publicly - before his victorious Vuelta two years ago.

An Evenepoel with top form can surely be in yellow after the first ITT, in any case. It'll be better for everyone if Pog has someone else to keep an eye on.
