I think it's gonna come down to who's got the best legs during the closing laps. If/when Pogacar attacks, Remco must get on terms. He cannot play it prudently as he wisely did on the big cols of the Tour. He's got to risk blowing up to stay on the wheel and then, if he can, counter-attack. The climb is short enough that he can risk all for glory. Nothing but gold matters to him anyway. The distance and attrition, if he's on a fine day, should allow him to unleash his power in all of its brute force. The question remains, however, as to will it be enough if Pog is also in beast mode on the day?
Guys, I've never been this excited for a WC ever. I'm even considering watching the live coverage in its entirety, solely b/c of Remco. Someone pointed out to me tonight that if RE manages to do the Double-Double, he'll also technically complete a never-before-contemplated multi-season Triple-Double: 2xOG gold, 2xWC ITT gold, 2xWC RR gold. It's overwhelming.

I honestly haven't been this hyped for a race since the moment Vino attacked in the 2012 Olympics.

🙏🙏🙏

Unique race, both Remco can do a historic double (or triple) and Pogacar en route to what might be the best season ever. I hope for a battle bewteen the two en let the best one win. It would be rather disapointing to see anybody else winning (only WVA would deserve some payback for being the perfect foil for Remco in worlds and Olympics before).

Last interview with Evenepoel and the team before Sunday. Nothing much has been said.
  • You have to stay alert the whole race
  • Need to make sure we are well positioned for that small bump of 16%
  • Preferably I don't go with the finish with Tadej alone. I wouldn't ride the last few kilometers if that would be the case.

question for the older people on this forum. Did as many pro cyclist die as they seem to die nowadays? Every year some pro or almost pro teenager seems to die cause of crashing . am I wrong in thinking it is getting worse? Or was it always this bad?

Yes, it was worse in the past. Media wasn't so intense back in the 90/80's. But one question, why are you asking here when we have a specific thread to this topic?

The Lombardia's that Pogacar keeps winning and Evenepoel keeps Grupettoing are also very conveniently under 250km.
Feel free to include them, lol. "Conveniently"... As if it's some conspiracy between some guys on the forum and the people at RCS.

Also great insights as to why Evenepoel keeps grupettoing Lombardia. His 2020 crash+comeback had nothing to do with it in 2021 i'm sure. Him crashing last year also had nothing to do with that. The equivalent of stating Evenepoel beat Pogacar in Liège last year.

It's not deliberate or anything, it's just a bit of lucky statistics.

This would, if even remotely an appropriate weight addition allow them to use other parts to approach the UCI minimum weight. It's nice to have options and Specialized knows that a cash cow losing a race to interweb speculation might be a bad marketing move. Nice post.

Whatever the outcome today, once again it is total chaos without communication. The current generation lack any tactical awareness when there is no sporting director yelling in their ears what to do. Evenepoel has benefitted from this in worlds and Olympics, now it’s Pog. Not taking away anything from their victories, but racing once a year with different rules is weird.
