That's true, and like people also mentioned he didn't go all out for the whole course. It was a 54 kph TT, of course gaps will be smaller.

Didn't look like it, and Vermeersch even crashed on the course.didn't remco take his foot off the gas at the end?
I would think so, but Vermeersch took his wheels off the pavement and plopped his butt on it which added at least 10 sec to his time.didn't remco take his foot off the gas at the end?
I would be curious to see some data comparing shoe/pedals combo with say a 250 g difference in weight (done by a testing lab that doesn't sell the products that they are comparing).Hence the word "merely". Meaning i was questioning whether or not the advantage in weight is as substantial as advertised, or inflated.
You don't see a difference between a rider like Vingegaard being 1m75 and 58kg, and someone like Evenepoel at 1m71 and 64kg. Since you don't think he needs to lose more weight, his normal weight is 64-65kg during the season when not preparing for a GT. That's 12% more weight he has to carry up a mountain compared to Vingegaard.
No I didn't, but I'm done with this discussion. You can go further with you ageism and "weightism" or whatever you want to call it.You are purposely pushing the numbers to extremes.

Nice interview with him in HLN after the NC ITT. Things interesting for the TDF:
I don't understand that last bit because he completely destroyed the opposition in the ITT in the Vuelta 2022
- "After that tough final weekend in the Dauphiné, I needed a calm extra altitude training. Don’t forget that I had a pretty bad winter and that I need a bit more recuperation and recovery between training sessions than last year.”
- He weighs 1kg less than during the TDF 2024, close to 60kg
- Looking for the right balance between weight and power, apparently he still weighs more than during Vuelta 2022 when he lost too much power
Not everybody is made or capable of being a GT rider. But weighing 60 for Tratnik who is about 1m73 (tiny bit taller than Evenepoel), is hardly extreme. Still smaller than Vingegaard or Bernal, and both weighed 60 or below. But, that's what being a climber/GT rider means. If Tratnik wasn't able to get somewhere close to that, that's fine, but it simply means he was not really going to be a GT rider or climber regardless.Fat shaming.
P.S. And lets not forget, Tratnik had a thing or two to say about weight culture at SOQ. And interestingly they wanted for him to be at 60kg, although that clearly wasn't working for him.
These numbers keep evolving every time the story is being told. He was 60kg during the Giro in '21, he said so in two video interviews before the start. I can't link or don't remember where he said it, but he most certainly said that. In an interview after the '22 Vuelta with Sammy Neyrinck he said he was lighter than what they had set out during the year, implying his weight should have been somewhere between 61 and 62 back then. This matched with what was said before the '23 Giro where he was purposely heavier; going from memory they said something in the lines of almost 2kg heavier with him being 63kg then. Now supposedly he weighs close to 60 (how close though) and it's still less than during the '22 Vuelta, implying he should have been 60 or below back then. Yet again they attribute his loss of power to weight and never look at injuries. Whenever he was this skinny and underperformed, imho there was always a crash or recovery preceding it. He destroyed everybody including Roglic in the '22 Vuelta on Pico Jano and Les Praeres. He then crashed and the two days after his crash he lost time. Two weeks ago, he crashed on thursday, climbing started on friday (and on sunday he was again closer to Pog and Vinge). During the '21 Giro, he had bad prep/rehab after his Lombardia crash.Nice interview with him in HLN after the NC ITT. Things interesting for the TDF:

This has to be the Giro 2021 and not the Vuelta???I don't understand that last bit because he completely destroyed the opposition in the ITT in the Vuelta 2022

I was thinking so too, maybe he was misquoted or he misremembered it. Because Giro 2021 makes much more senseThis has to be the Giro 2021 and not the Vuelta???
When? He doesn’t wear a watch when racing?Anyone know which sports watch Remco uses? If the question is allowed.
He wore a white one for the price ceremony yesterday. When? He doesn’t wear a watch when racing?
Some people just do struggle more at certain fat% than others, but with Evenepoel it wouldn't surprise me if it's partially mental/habitual in that he's more used to gaining weight after the season/main target is over and yoyoing isn't that great to keep your power up. Like he seemed mentally done after the Olympics double last year and then he reappears at the WC losing to Ganna in the uphill TT splits like old school Fatco again.Anyway, i'm curious for next month. If nothing else, it proves that the story a forum member who claimed to be a physician had been telling people last year, about how Evenepoel was physically unable to weigh anything below 62-63kg for extended periods, was -as i called out back then - hogwash.
BK TT is a big enough win in my books to return to belgium 2 days early. Belgian Cycling is different. Now I understand BK TT is not as prestigious as BK RR, in part cause our TT tradition only truly started with Campenaerts (Merxkx wasn't shabby either but different times) But it's getting more and more imprtant. BK RR is mandatory for belgian Cyclists. And that is a good thing in my books. We'll have a great race. Meanwhile many other National RR are criteriums. Belgium RR matters. Was there any particular reason for coming down from TDF training camp a few days early just to humuliate a few u23s in a time trial?

This is because you are belgian. Even Wout said everyone rides Nationals with an eye in the Tour.BK TT is a big enough win in my books to return to belgium 2 days early. Belgian Cycling is different.
