I totally agree with Remco's take on young riders being fairly maxxed out due to well "managed" entries into the pro levels.

ayuso has always seemed a case in point for this.

dad hired a trainer at very young age. he has been a "pro" since his teens.

pog clearly had no good training until 2024. crazy what a shorter crank can do.

if remco wants to stay ahead of the del toros and seixases, he will have to hope stuff is similar with them.

At least we know that Remco wasn't pro as a junior. He was steamrolling the whole junior peloton while learning to ride a bike and eating ice cream and pizza.

Of all the things that I expect out of Remco being able to stay with Pogi on one of his all out uphill attacks is pretty low on the list.

Ganna was able to follow Pogi’s initial burst on Cipressa. Remco should be able to follow on a 4% gradient.

They cant, if he doesnt follow them and gets pushed back. They end up scattered and looking around where he is. Wondering what happened.

Seems possible that the low-angle climbs will help Remco to stay with him. Not sure however if he's explosive enough to stay with the crazy accelerations of Pogi and MVdP.

His problem will be on the descents. I still remember his disastrous descent on the Galibier; everyone overtook him.

And on a shallow gradient you save 150W+ during an acceleration like that.

Van der Poel holding Pogacar's wheel on both the Cipressa and Poggio should say everything about how hard it is to drop somebody if they're on your wheel.

I unironically think Red Bull should also bring Roglic to Sanremo just to add extra bodies and options that may get over the Cipressa and play the tactical game later on.

Milan San Remco, here we go! Finally Remco listened to top experts of our forum! Obviously it's an important factor complicating Pogacar's task even more.

His problem will be on the descents. I still remember his disastrous descent on the Galibier; everyone overtook him.

Come on, Poggio is not the monstrous Galibier descent. Remco could lose a bit on curves but should be able to bridge the small gap immediately (he's very aero).

Yeah, I think the main difference I see (or assume) is that MVdP's watts are a lot higher in an explosive, short effort like those, and would be a lot higher than Remco's, which allows him (and his relative bulk) to keep up with Pogi. I think Remco's watts and weight are more similar to Pogi's, with less explosivity. So I'm curious how it plays out.

Love the idea of Roglic as an additional foil.

I'm not sure Evenepoel has the ultimate watts to follow on Cipressa in the wheel even, like MvdP and Ganna did, the latter just barely managed am I alone thinking that?

Cipressa is not about aero or w/kg and position is absolutely key, and thats something he seem to struggle with often.

That said, I've said it before: I would respect it regardless of any results he achieves here and RVV and def acknowledge it will be better with him there than not,simultaneously more intriguing, what he can do. Bring it, Remco.

I'm having a hard time getting my head around the idea of Remco sitting in on the Capi and shepherding Van Gils, but the latter is an exciting rider, and I'd love to see it.

I'll remain of the belief that Remco, or whomever is feeling really strong after 250k, will have chances. Until I hear Remco say he's not going for the win, and even then I'm not sure I'll buy it.

Not at all, as explained in Rogličes thread RBH has no chances so better to bring a weak team.
