Teams & Riders The Remco Evenepoel is the next Eddy Merckx thread

Nicely done. Impressive sprint.

As expected, other teams had numbers in the final but Hirt was good and he usually grows in a GT so he should be a great domestique in the high mountains. Vervaeke was also solid as always. Hopefully Knox can still grow a bit in the race but overall not a bad team performance.

As long as multiple other teams (mostly Jumbo and UAE) keep having numbers they will likely neutralize each other most of the time.

Hopefully no crash consequences!

Apart from the unfortunate crash after the finish line, Remco's sprint against Vingegård today reminded me of Pogačar's on stage 18 of the Tour 2021 where he manage to drop the Dane from his wheel and win the stage on a MTF.

Right now, both Pogačar and Remco are looking quite similar to each other, Pogačar is perhaps a bit better on the harder climbs and in the cobbles/gravel but Remco is better in the time trials. Sadly, Vingegård is the strongest on the harder climbs but if he doesn't recover his monster Tour shape, Remco has a real shot of winning his second Vuelta.

This thread is better with pictures of the subject of this thread.

Standing by for the next 25 pages of haters complaining that their butts hurt.
Wait a minute, in the post stage interview he said the journalists were too close and after everything so far, well, "it's starting to break my balls". Verbatim. So, I can understand his frustration, but here he only fuels the hostility towards his character by those who see him as a badly behaved brat. It wasn't the fault of the journalists. He should have breaked sooner.

Combination of multiple factors. He should brake sooner, organisation needs to make sure that there’s enough room for journalists AND riders

I can see it partly as an attempt to have ammunition to pressure the organization into another makeup call down the road should he need it

Fine, change my post to riders who don't want to pay attention.

It is still the same thing, the finish area now apparently has to be safe for riders who do not pay attention to their surroundings.
It has nothing to do with "wanting" not to pay attention, sometimes it just happens. Errare humanum est, perseverare autem diabolicum (as you are intentionally doing with your intentional deprecations).

Huh?

There was literally nothing about the finish area today that prevented Evenepoel both from celebrating and not crashing.
From the overhead shot, I saw that other riders (Vingegaard) also had to brake hard and those riders were having their hands on the brakes all the time. It's a bit sad when you can't make a victory salute because the organisation decided that 50 meters from the finish to the barriers (yes, I measured that) would be enough.

Those barriers made people in that zone feel like they were in a good spot as they all thought riders wouldn't need the space as the barriers were so close. On top of that, while people at that location are supposed to have a badge and work for teams or the organisation, half of them were filming with their phone, so it was more like a fanzone than a zone with people dedicated to support the riders / race.
