Teams & Riders The Remco Evenepoel is the next Eddy Merckx thread

I stated before that Remco (or anyother rider, for that matter) winning the RWC TT did not make him the best TTer of the world.

So now he got beat by the new kid monster in town. It doesn't mean he did not deserve the RWC TT title, but certainly adds perspective.
They are two completely different events. It's clear Remco didn't have the same form as Worlds, where he beat a certain Ganna who said his numbers were tops and who holds the hour record. Please, enough with the nonesense.

Yes, but the same can be said for many TTers. They were not there or were but not with the best numbers.
I recommend also a bit more humility regarding who's writing nonsense.

If Remco hasn't been mentioned in 2 pages I think it's safe to say the topic isn't Remco. Start a new thread about who's the strongest and include all the riders you want.
I didn't say the topic was about Remco, I stated it is and was relevant to assess any big engines like Remco that do not necessarily win GTs (for the moment or not, that was not the question).

It happens in every thread that the topic gets out of hand.

You're only as good as you're last Grand Bouclé baby. When MVP can challenge for the Tour, then we can talk. Overall means climbing and TT power and, most importantly, you are not allowed to have a bad day in three weeks. The classics riders are children in comparison. I think it's fairly clear that being exceptionally good on one day, isn't the same as being capable of winning a three week bike race. The biggest freak is thus the Tour winner, because it's the biggest bicycle race in the world, but this is history, so I don't need to explain that. So if folks want to insist Pogacar is the biggest freak out there, when he gets his teeth kicked out at the Tour by Vingegaard, go ahead, but then there is reality.
Reality is that Pogacar, a two time Tour de France winner and five time monument winner is far above (aka the way bigger freak), then just a two time Tour de France winner.
And reality is that Mathieu Van Der Poel, winner of WC road race and 4 monuments, stands fairly above two time Tour de France winner in the all-time hierarchy.
Everything else is just illusion...

WCTT is the one TT for which, like the Tour, everybody plans meticulously to be in the best possible condition. No excuses. Remco did so, fatally at the expense of his Vuelta prep. So, no, the same can't be said for today's event, which was an afterthought and frankly should never have been contested.

I like it very much that the best riders, like Remco, Pog, Rog, and others nowadays ride their season until beginning or mid October.

There were times when the best TdF men basically ended their season at the end of July, or in August. And the next year, you had to wait until mid or end of March until they started their new season.

And nowadays the stars not only race from January/February until October; they show decent form all year long. Something which was sometimes different, when the best only got in shape in April.

A lot has improved, which is great. With the starts of Remco there, in recent times, Chrono des Nations gained massive attention, after it had become more and more ignored by the very best.

Remco IMHO showed a great performance, today. The thing probably is that Joshua Tarling has become already so strong that even Remco doesn’t beat him at any circumstances, any more. Great, and promises a lot for next year, when Remco will want to win CdN, again - he already won it at the juniors… :)
