Teams & Riders The Remco Evenepoel is the next Eddy Merckx thread

Don't be so sad Elos Anjos. Many people in the Basque region like the way Remco rides, whether you like it or not. Step out of your provincialist attitude just a bit....take a deep breath
Yeah whatever. I know that whatever I post is easily justified with "duh Remco hater" but I have attempted to provide why that is flawed.

Going to cycling country or region X, asking a few people about your favourite rider Y and then bragging that you found out an entirely new and never thought relationship between X and Y is just... :tearsofjoy: cringe fandom.

"yeah whatever"...good answer for you to sweep away what is unpleasant and makes you "cringe". If these Basque people I had conversations with about cycling (cause it's the sport I enjoy), had responded in a negative way towards Remco, I'm sure it would have made you quite happy....ohmmmm. Seriously man, relax

That’s the thing, it isn’t new or never thought of, it’s just known. Remco has said numerous times how much he loves the race and the area. You think the crazy cycling basque fans don’t pick that up?

I disagree, you post plenty of things which are reasonable, this just wasn’t one of them. Act like a hater, don’t be shocked when people think you’re a hater.

Have you “attempted to provide” why you had to misquote Andre to try and make your point? Why you added [sic] after the misquote as if to say, he really said this, it’s not me?

All I got from the post was that Andre went to the area and was surprised by the level of Remco fandom he found there. Not really that surprising as he’s won there three times now in exciting fashion, and has declared many times how much he likes the area. Locals eat that *** up. Not exactly a shocker.

Your little diatribe reads like someone looking a bit too hard for negatives that don‘t exist. We all took his comments as anecdotal, not some attempt to show that the “whole” Basque Country (the bit you added in) were Remco fans.

Not really, I love MVDP too
+1. I have kind of a man-crush on MVDP, what an awesome athlete that guy is. Love Pogačar, what an attacker and racer. Really like Mads Pedersen, Wout, LaPorte, Healy...basically I love all the young riders who have brought the sport back to attacking and racing, not watching and pacing. And guys who seem like they'd be fun to grab a beer with like Geraint Thomas and Pidcock (whose riding is also fun to watch).

Being half Belgian I have some nationalistic fanboy-ism for Remco, but I love the way he rides anyway.

I'm the first to admit that I misquoted @Andre but how can you understand the jump from "I spoke to few people" to "the Basque region" if not for a logical abusive take that pushes a whole region to hold his own personal view on a rider? That was the whole point: "hey, the Basque country also adores my favourite rider" is nonsense. A complete non sequitur.

I'm not interested in how you read it. By holding to what was written I was pointing out how @Andre take could be read. Not every complement to Remco in this thread is very consistent, as you should probably know nor is any critic to Remco moved by "muh haters gonna hate".
