So for all the haters, the kid is growing up, is learning, and has an impulsive but surely genuine character. And everyone is allowed to feel anger, frustration and disappointment when you crash on a horrible day. I'm glad he responded like this in the end, let's all move on and hope for the best in this race.

This, things just happen in the heat of the moment. As long as you solve things afterwards and don't keep your initial stance after seeing that you also made a mistake it's really not a big deal.

Who exactly in the peloton was affected by his frustration/anger? Looks to me he only vented his frustration to his own team car and his teammates and in the end even apologised to the Trek guys.

I could be wrong but I'm not hearing/reading any negative sentiments from the peloton towards Remco, quite the opposite.

Also Bambi, is that still funny?

I think he already improved a lot and is not afraid of admitting he is wrong when this is the case. Nevertheless, it will always be a part of his personality. He is a leader and he will feel the responsibility and need to voice his opinion clearly.

He's also the hope of a nation, an entire country's media following his every move. That inevitably makes you a little on edge, certainly when you're still quite young.

Everyone talking about his gestures, he was just explaining to some teammates who asked what happened. He was angry at first when he got up, but it couldn't be to the Trek guys because they didn't fall and weren't behind him.

I liked that he also went to the Trek bus to apologize. A race incident, nothing to bad in the end. Carry on with the race.

Yes, difficult to judge. Saying he is not feeling well would only invite others to attack him. But i do get the impression it is less of an issue than during the Vuelta. There he fell at a lower speed but smacked down fully on his side. Now, with his long legwarmers, soggy due to the rain, i wonder if those didn't absorb some of the impact. Also if my physics classes of long ago serve me well, the fact that it was wet and slippery, should have reduced the impact to the ground, as the force of movement didn't add to the impact, but went into the sliding motion.

Yes, this. I crashed on a group ride in France in the rain while in a paceline. Just crossed the rear wheel of the rider in front of me, totally my fault. Luckily I was just rejoining after a turn on the front and was last in the line, so no one else was affected.

Any crash on pavement is a shock to the system, but it was nice that a lot of the energy of the crash was absorbed by the very long slide on the wet pavement. A small tear in the right sleeve of my rain jacket was the only real damage.

I think he’s kinda nervous though, perhaps longer than just after yesterday. I’m really, really excited to watch him in tomorrow’s stage.. I expect a conservative handling by SQS and perhaps some gaps for Remco right now.

Yes, sliding is always better, compared to falling from a standstill.
But still his injury report is very similar compared to last year (a bit more extensive even). Maybe because they knew they made extra effort in unblocking his pelvis which he was struggling with the most in the vuelta. (we can only hope if that is the case).

But last year the first stage after his fall was also ok... so i don't want to yell to early. (He also said he was fine back then). He even said he felt fine on the next stage. (it was only on the rest day he said he couldn't stand on the pedals etc)

We will see but I have a gut feeling that this will be the best GT this year (and in recent memory). The drama could reach its peak on that brutal TT...or in Rome when Remco decides to go solo (yelling at Primoz who's on his wheel and not cooperating).
