Forget the symptoms, your body still has to fight an infection, that means that your body has to spend energy to do it.
Do you seriously are comparing going to work with a "flu" to compete at the highest possible level in sports while having a "flu"?
So, I will ask you once again... have you ever ride a bike to do 200k at full speed while having a "flu"?

No but that question is pointless in this exchange . Nor do I spend 3 weeks riding up the highest mountains in the world or speeding down them at 120Km a hour

You are determined to not take on board my point that cyclists have ridden on with fractures and all types of infections ...rightly or wrongly but Covid has become a definitive end to a seasons goals ..even the milder version we have now. If a rider doesnt feel well enough to ride , that is fine but why should a milder Covid be automatically the end of their race when nothing else is ...even going down steep wet dangerous roads that might prove more dangerous to their future career

I simply can´t see what you are trying to point here!
Let's assume that Evenepoel has Covid as stated by him and QS! Let's also assume that he decided to quit on his biggest goal for this season, after all the work and investment made by him and QS, when he was in the leader jersey, because his body despite having or not having symptoms, wasn't at the highest level possible!
In my book it's obvious that Evenepoel wasn't feeling 100% in the last 2 days, it's common sense to think that after the 1st stage 19,5K iTT performance a healthy Evenepoel would take more time on a almost pancake flat 35K iTT over the competition!
So I ask you again, what's your point about Evenepoel abandon the race?

PS I'm not even a Evenepoel fan

Why on Earth quit after a stage win and with a rest day to look forward to. Ayuso showed that it's not necessarily a death sentence.
Seriously?
Because he is actually sick, with what can be a serious illness.
I can't believe people would actually think, 'yeah, go ahead and keep racing for 2 weeks, it will be fine'
Totally irresponsible, especially for a friggin couch surfer watching on tv

Wow, just read the news. Sad for him. But I suppose this explains his mediocre (by our expectations) TT. Remco will bounce back. Maybe he can regroup for the TdF, else look forward to defending his Vuelta title in the rainbow stripes?

This is Remco's thread or did I land in the wrong place? Or is everything Remco and the Sun revolves around him? For some here, it does.

Right now, if I'm Roglic, I'm still alive but I don't have the A JV team that can really hurt Evenepoel. Ineos is a different story: their chess game is working and Geraint looks like the New Geraint, or the old '18 Geraint. You choose...

Tao is lurking in the shadows and he's a threat, he's a former champ'.

I was expecting Evenepoel to be ahead of his foes by two minutes at this time. Winning by one second...meh....I'm not impressed. After two ITT, that's the gaps?...meh....

He won a TT with Covid

nobody is saying anything about this being an automatic quitting the race.
He is making a decision based on possible health outcomes.
