Jonas need to win something other than mountains to be worth a Merckx comparison. That time of the year again. Can you please hand over the title of the thread to Jonas?.

On the other hand Remco needs to win a few TDF's before he's worthy of the same comparison.Jonas need to win something other than mountains to be worth a Merckx comparison.
Merckx also won “a lesser GT” before he won a GT so atleast he’s on the right track unlike the fisherman. On the other hand Remco needs to win a few TDF's before he's worthy of the same comparison.
Purely depends on the route. You think he’s “scared” after seeing Vingegaard today? He probably thinks he could’ve followed himRandom thought:LefevereRemco will choose the Giro next year.
Maybe...but, I mean, we all know he would have been smoked right? Maybe next year he can get to that level, but I think he would have been in the Pogi group today if he'd raced it.Purely depends on the route. You think he’s “scared” after seeing Vingegaard today? Do we? I don’t know, Remco at his best pushes similar numbers. Just not sure he can do this if the race was as hard as today and for 3 weeks straight.Maybe...but, I mean, we all know he would have been smoked right? So probably he wouldn’t have been able to follow but that’s a boring premise for this topic.
He knows he needs an altitude training camp first. To beat or even just follow Vingegaard he needs a similar preparation and be as razor sharp as he can comfortably be without losing power. He needs the 20-30 watts he was missing in Suisse. A hard race, 3 weeks ... I am pretty sure that this does not matter if he has the watts/kg to follow. On the contrary, the longer the race, the better for Remco. His diesel keeps going.Do we? I don’t know, Remco at his best pushes similar numbers. Why on earth should that happen. Jonas can get "Froome" in his thread title. That time of the year again. Can you please hand over the title of the thread to Jonas?
Thanks.

So in short he is not going to lose in any GTs next year😁I want him to to the Olympic double (ITT + RR).
Imagine a schedule where he goes for San Remo (Cipressa attack), Ronde (100 km attack), Liege (Redoute hat trick), then Olympic double and finish off the season with WC double and Lombardia.
Don’t bother about GTs next year Remco!
Let's hope he can do that, or Ayuso. Otherwise we are in for a boring 5 years of TDF for the GCAlways fun to see the top GC rider in the world blow the Tour to pieces only for the Evenepoel thread to go "Remco could have done that"

Always fun how one person with a controversial opinion that several posters are disagreeing with is seen as the representative of the entire thread and all it’s postersAlways fun to see the top GC rider in the world blow the Tour to pieces only for the Evenepoel thread to go "Remco could have done that"
Relax, 5 years ago nobody had ever heard of Vingegaard. These things change quickly in cycling. I'm not sure it will be Evenepoel that challenges him, Ayuso would indeed maybe be a better bet, but someone will come along.Let's hope he can do that, or Ayuso. Froome had quite the reign for a couple of years, and would've won more TDF's without crashes and some bad luck. Feels like Vingegaard is currently also ahead of the pack like Froome was. Unless Remco reels him in, which I think is very possible since Remco at 100% is the best in the world (imo).Relax, 5 years ago nobody had ever heard of Vingegaard. I would like to see how young Lenny Martinez develops... because when it comes to climbing in the high mountains he has the potential to become one of the best.Relax, 5 years ago nobody had ever heard of Vingegaard. Lenny Rujano will get smoked on the flat, unfortunately.I would like to see how young Lenny Martinez develops... because when it comes to climbing in the high mountains he has the potential to become one of the best.
He should retire immediately.Lenny Rujano will get smoked on the flat, unfortunately.
Was the source vwpe? From a reliable source I know that Skeletor and Teddy actually paid visit to Remco in June. They asked how he felt and advised him to rest more after the Giro disappointment. UAE and JV DS convinced the old man as well ($$$).
Business as usualLet's hope he can do that, or Ayuso. Otherwise we are in for a boring 5 years of TDF for the GC
Only if you don't adjust for altitude and include the Majka pace. And that's not mentioning the difference of stage profile and how it was raced before the last climb. The performance by Vingegaard yesterday was worse by w/kg estimates than Remco in March this year on Lo Port. Therefore, we place an asterisk next to the 2023 Tour winner.![]()
