Teams & Riders The Remco Evenepoel is the next Eddy Merckx thread

He chose to start training again sooner than what he was advised. And he could obviously have chosen to start his season sooner than what he did.
Aah yes that argument, but it was not Pog fault for riding in a pothole right? (Also it wouldn't have mattered since he wasn't ready to do the giro, so he wouldn't have been ready for the spring classic even if he took a longer recovery time. 3 weeks shift would bring him to around AGR as his first race of the season)

I think the rest should be Merlier, Jakobsen, Mørkøv and Van Lerbeghe.

That would make his team more sprint oriented than GC oriented wouldn't it?

I don't really think those four should be selected...

Going back to the the WC topic: I think that Remco will be marked by the top teams. I still expect him to go in the earlier rounds of the Glasgow circuit but he will get a bunch of favorites and 2nd line favorites with him, probably including MVDP and Pogacar. The strategy will be: "If Remco goes, join him." Those with their leader in the bunch will not work but leaders such as Pogacar and MVDP will. The reduced bunch will probably stay relatively close, sufficient to bridge the gap, but the race will be too hard for the sprinters and helpers. The hard race benefits Remco but also Mvdp, WVA, Pogacar and Pedersen. It may end up in a sprint between a few of them and the energy level will have more of an impact than sprint speed. If it rains heavily, Remco is at a disadvantage versus the others. His chances are good but not exceptional on this track. I give him a 20% chance to win if the weather is relatively ok and 10% if it is bad.

Looking at some of the garbage posts that are allowed in here it always surprises me how Logic manages to get banned so often and I always wonder how justified the bans were.

I wonder who will follow Remco when he decides to attack from 40-50k from the finish. If it's the wrong guys (i.e. not someone like MVDP) then the race might be over because once he is away there is no way to catch him.

yeah that is a real headache for teams, they don't want to mark him with their best rider, but they also need to mark him with a rider strong enough to follow.
potentially the course isn't hard enough that it takes a monster in peak shape to follow Remco's attack itself.
Pogi won't be able to resist if he has any sort of legs.

The fight for Remco's wheel from the 80 k mark and in will also be insane.

It is still a race that will take about 7 hours. I think people underestimate how challenging that is despite the lack of elevation. There won't be that many guys able to hold his wheel imo.

He's also perfectly capable of hurting people on the flat. It will be a challenge for other countries to handle the combination of Remco attacking while guys like Van Aert and Philipsen are able to just hang back.

Remco is like this annoying little dog that barkes at the larger dogs. The small dog is fast of course but he doesn't have the calm and classy antics as the bigger dogs.

And the small dog can't understand why owners of the larger dogs won't talk to him. But they don't like him.

He doesn't top 5 I vuelta. And he gets dropped in the world championships.
As long as our speedy small dog is faster than all those large obedient dogs all is fine. He may not show it but he perfectly understands why their masters don't like him. He runs away with the bones.

Another garbage post. There's a thing called perception bias that social networks amplify. This thread is an example of a fragile echo chamber where its usual users agree most of the times. When questions, doubts or other users threaten to pop it by hurting or calling out its underlying narrative, you get every now and then a meltdown. And yes, the case is not so severe in other threads where usually there's a good deal of self-deprecating humor.

I agree, up to the point where you said it isn't so severe in other threads... It is in all the specific fanbase threads (am i wright?) , just that this one is a bit more active compared to some of the others.

Which part is garbage? I'm guessing the comments that warranted a ban have been removed because I can't see any that seem ban-worthy. Granted, Logic's way of argumenting is a bit too aggressive but if you look at the amount of troll/rude posts that are apparently not problematic then I fail to see any consistency as far as what is allowed and what isn't.

If they mark him with their 2nd/3rd best rider and let that group get 90 seconds plus Remco will be laughing inside and they will have repeated the errors of Australia

Who knew that in a topic about a rider there are mostly fans of that rider.
