This was the first time I called Evenepoel Bambi. I think I posted an image of Evenepoel on the gravel next to an image of Bambi on ice before that, but I can't find that post.

It's not exactly an unheard of way to unflatteringly describe a rider:

Watching riders on the initial cobbled roll out looking like Bambi venturing onto the ice...

Realistically though I see this as being one that the break will have some leeway but the GC contenders will probably take just because the length of the climb, while nothing on Zoncolan or Gerola Alta, will be sufficient for the big name climbers to pull a lot of them back. Annemiek will manage the race, Ash may or may not try something as a final hail mary, and we will get to see if Eider has learnt any descending skills in the last 14 months, seeing as she was as stereotypically Basque as they come in her breakout at home, going uphill like a gazelle and going downhill like Bambi on ice.

Will the Tourmalet descent be significant for the likes of Nibali and Contador and other accomplished descenders over King Bambi legs?

Finnish commentator said that Zakarin is like Bambi on ice on descent.

You still had the gist of the analogy correct (maybe not who used it 1st), which is calling a cyclist Bambi = unstable, frequently falling.

I've got thicker skin than the fans that spend time repeatedly denigrating another rider and suggesting that a Solid Player like Remco actually would refer to his adversaries in that way. Particularly when they outsprint him. It's a weak and disrespectful characterization just like Bambi.
IMO Remco is well within his right to be irritated about circumstances when riders sit on him but he certainly knows it's their way of accommodating his strength. It's also bike racing and suggesting it's less than sporting is usually a naive response at best. It's a painful way to lose a race, to be sure.

Things don't work like that, it will be liege-bastogne-Remco when he wins three times the race, until then he just gives his name to Classica de San Remco.

I said before that Red Bull/Bora will go after Wout and maybe even Pidcock. Doesn't make sense to have guys riding separately in red bull gear.
