Hindsight turns everything so simple. Froome did the Giro because he was facing the infamous salbutamol case, so he didn't know if he could race the Tour.

He could never win 8 Tours. What a joke. Hell, he would never win a Tour if he was in another team besides Sky.

Froome had a worse preparation for that race than Contador.

In terms of numbers peak Contador and peak Froome were similar in the climbs.

I would argue Contador *should* have won 6 Tours but ended up with 2 on paper (3 on the road). If you really want to stretch it, he could have won up to 9. He was the dominant GT rider 2007 - 2011 and reached peak again in 2014 after steak related setbacks and crashes.

2007 - won
2008 - not allowed to participate but would have won easily (won Giro + Vuelta)
2009 - won
2010 - won on the road
2011 - rode Giro due to outstanding case and crashed in Tour
(2012 - 2013) - not going to argue about these because there are too many conditions here
2014 - still in dominant shape and beat Froome at Vuelta with really strong numbers
(2015) - crashed in Giro, crashed in Tour, probably could have done better but not going to argue this one

In 2007 no way. Rasmussen just lost 30 s to Contador in the TT of the first week.

Yup, Rasmussen had a comical TT in 2005 but in 2007 he was in the form of his life. It was his Tour.

Wasnt Rasmussen gifted a few minutes to Tignes and Contador suffered a puncture so he had to attack the Klöden group twice? After that they were evenly matched?

So without gifting the time Contador probably wins the tour in the TTs.

A win is a win.
Additionaly, Almeida is the most successful Portuguese GT rider of the last 30 years.
Otherwise you celebrate cycling superstars and nothing else. Which with some strict criteria would leave Remco out.

Celebrating someone who wins something sometimes is another thing.

Pogacar additionally has in MDVP his rival for classics.
Remco and Roglic are 2nd tier.

Remco has the power and build, but I think the technical aspect is unknown, because he has not ridden them. He came into cycling from football, not the best development, above all for a Flandrian. He's a fish out of water in his own sea.
