5th place finish at around 1.30 from the winner in Tour de Romandie courtesy of his TT.
His form looked good. His Bike Handling seemed fine enough as well.
Objectively that's not bad given that Almeida been performing quite well all year so far.

Yes, but this year it's Almeida, last year it's Jorgenson, the year before that it's Skjelmose, and the year before that it's G. Thomas. It has to be Remco who takes a step forward in these races and not always be behind someone who's in good shape.

I know he doesn‘t care if he‘s 4th or 5th but riding for the 8th place of someone else while you‘re in the fight for the Top 5 in any race is something that I don‘t like at all.

Of course, I also know it‘s better training for him, but I hate the idea of being in the race for a good result and then not really trying.

It's a bit of both though. I'm sure a top Evenepoel would have found an extra 10-15s on this course, but it was really a very good TT from Almeida. Look at Vine, Vlasov, or even Küng as reference.

There is no magic formula for Remco, not in this team. He needs to be either in similar shape as his competitors to hang on and win the race in the TT or in top shape by making a gap in a mountain stage. The latter only happens in june to september sofar.

Not gonna lie, Basque 24 would have been a great show. Maybe cause everyone looked so good, that they all went to hard and the crash happened.

In a top shape in which he would win LBL? Or at the start of a WC or GT? I would think he puts a minute on everyone

Well, never mind. He said it was “almost perfect”.

Remco said he felt immediately comfortable and that he rode a good TT but not the best he can do . He is satisfied with the result and will take this as a positive going forward .

The twists and turns of the terrain and steeper sections were not favorable for his typical aero position. I think he needed to adjust a lot. There was nothing that pointed to a shoulder issue imho.

He usually has great form after a GT, so the Vuelta into the worlds would make a lot of sense

He will win those in late June. Other than that he doesn't look too good. Poor show in the Ardenners besides Amstel.

But I feel sorry for the guy witht the injuries he has suffered. Too bad for such a great athlete. But at some point being that much injured is also a bit unprofessional. And I very serious about that. You don't see Pogi being seriously injured every other year.

I am not impressed with his form as of now. But I am not trying to hate.

On a side note: his aero bars make me nervous. There is so little material connecting the extensions to the base bar. If I remember correctly, they are 3D printed so I hope the calculations that went into the code is precise, and the materials are optimal.

EDIT: I'm not sure if these are the same ones, but the 'connecting' area doesn't look as minimal as the ones he used today (maybe just camera and/or moving vs. sitting still). Plus, if they are the same, they aren't 3D, bur rather laid up based on a mould of RE's arms.

But the same applies. Targeting Spring Classics. I believe he has said that he is in Romandie for the sake of having a good TT workout, not as a season goal.

Exactly plenty of riders aimed to peak in April mostly for their chosen monuments.
