Not unless Dwars door Vlaanderen is a stage race? Only counting overall GC wins or 1 day race wins is ridiculous. Either discuss stage race GCs or classics, and then it's a fair point. But excluding stages in WT races is simply idiotic if the point is to discuss WT races in general.

The UCI chart is so great that you linked right?

The wiki graph gives a quick glance at results, the UCI site does not.

I admittedly have a bad memory so after I posted that a Belgian hadn't won a WT race yet this year, I thought that I should check my memory. I went to the UCI first, but you have to click on each race, then final result, and then back out to the next race and so on. With stage races you have two more clicks if you want to see each stage result. One click or 200+ clicks, you choose.

To help you sleep better though, I will go delete my previous posts about this.

EDIT: Next time that someone asks you who won (pick the stage race you want) the TdF, I want you to list each stage winner not the GC winner.

You were corrected and instead of saying you made a mistake, you used wikipedia as a source and hid behind "silly UCI rules", while UCI most certainly has WT stages count as WT wins.

Related: He was/is a proponent of centered/mid cleat placement too. No need to discuss the physiology of that here, but it resulted in plenty of (tri) crashes from toe-tire overlap.

Sure doesn't seem like a week before the Tour he should be losing to a 40k Tim Wellens solo. I didn't see the race so maybe I'm missing something but for a rider ostensibly shooting for a TDF podium not sure how this could be spun as anything but an unhealthy sign, especially after a lackluster Dauphine.

I agree with Cycling111's take:

Wellens didn't beat Remco in a 40km time trial. Did you see the race to say that?

Philipsen conditioned Remco too much.
Aside from the fact that Remco spent the previous kilometers pulling the group. And he crashed before.
By the way, Wellens had a little help from the moto

Don't just have to look at the result or final kilometers to interpret a race.

Finally, as the riders were tiring, Wellens attacked at just the right moment with 41km to go, and when Evenepoel didn't immediately react, the UAE rider had the momentum to go solo, and he would not be caught again. The gap was never huge, but the chasing group disintegrated – partly thanks to Vermeersch's interference for his teammate – instead of working together, allowing Wellens to solo to the win.

It was not optimal prep to ride here and it ended up being harder than expected. He crashed. Had to pull out a big effort in the end.

I dont understand why he would prioritize it this time if he is serious about challenging Pog and Vinge. It doesnt fill me with confidence.

It feels a bit like the NC titles would have been something nice to walk away with when you sum up the season and valuing that higher, rather than being all in it for the Tour.

Maybe he feels things needs to happen to the others and know it will be hard otherwise. Then fair enough. His participation here wont matter if that is how he feels.

He didn't 'peak' for this race.

That he couldn't or wouldn't close could be several things other than an 'unhealthy' sign.
