Fleche also seemed a bad fit for Pogacar and an excellent fit for Roglic and guess who has 2 and who has none

The way Pidcock and Pogacar rode away last year. Can you see them pushing on a downhill section... Evenepoel can't follow that.

I just don't feel the reward is worth the risk. In best case scenario you probably still lose to Pogacar and in the worst case you can basically end your classics season and still be suboptimal for the Tour

I don’t think the consequences at Strade are as severe as others seem to. I think he’d help animate the race. Would love to see it. Can’t be afraid to race the best races if you wanna be the best, and I think he still does.

I mean, it's entirely possible to crash, break something and as a result having to skip the rest of the classics

But based on real numbers, how big is actually the risk of crashes and/or severe injuries in SB, compared to PN, TA, or Itzulia for example?

At least on the road you can't crash because of the terrain

Yeah, I mean Pogacar in LBL totally didn't crash because of the road/terrain conditions.

And it doesn't matter if you can or can't. All that matters is how often does it actually happen and is it really riskier than different races?

Pogacar caught him easily with Vineggaard on his wheel.

And in the final part, when Pogacar attacked, it was Jorgenson who saved them.
Neither Remco nor Vingegaard could have done it without that help.
In a one day classic , it's even more difficult.

No. Jorgenson closed it for Vingegaard. Evenepoel closed it alone with others in his wheel.

Remco closed it after Matteo closed it for Jonas and they had stopped racing.

Yes, but it's unlikely to go as fast or really push on descends. Although, there's always a possibility of a postal van

Evenepoel is also the type of rider that if he feels the risk is too high for the reward, he might not go as fast. So chances of crashing might be lower.

I think he was already riding in Belgium, but probably nothing like he starts doing now in Calpe. Not sure how long he's staying in Calpe anyway. RBH team camp is in 2 weeks, with media day on the 10th of December
