Then he might as well skip it. I doubt he's there to finish 17th
You can't know that beforehand. How are you feeling, how do the other riders feel. If UAE goes hard early again, risk might be low, because Evenepoel will be one of the last ones in the wheel of Pogacar. He could take it easy and still finish on the podium.

If Pogacar or Pidcock push I one descent on gravel, Remco is distanced

Pidcock...

He may gap Remco on a descent, only for Remco to catch up on the flat and drop him like a stone when the road goes uphill. Just as Remco did at the worlds and Lombardia

There were some on youtube who actually truly believed that Pidcock could beat Remco at Lombardia, only for Pidcock to be ground to dust

If the similar scenario happens to this year, with Pidcock and Pogacar going forward and Remco being caught in the G2 dynamics with 1 or 2 UAE guys, I don't think he'll just pull everyone really hard to come back on the flat

If the technicality doesn't help Pidcock in any way, shape or form vs Pogacar in Strade, it's not too technical for Evenepoel to consider racing.

We're talking as if Pogacar has 0 offroad skills

I'm not saying Remco can't race it, but he shouldn't expect being competitive for the win. Target a podium if group dynamics allow that
