It's easy enough. Women working in WWI ammunation factories found that out over a century ago.

It's easy for pros to drop fat quickly due to large volume of aerobic training. It takes a bit less of incoming calories and the effect is quick. Problems can arise when it's done too quickly (and the body gets weaker instead of form improvement). As we saw, Remco did it quickly between Dauphine and Tour 2024 and it didn't backfire (Tour podium + two Olympic golds).

Maybe he did it too quickly and could've won that TDF? /jk

Remco could've won every Giro edition from 1909 to 2025. He could've won the Tour 2024 as well.
The difference was so stark: during Olympics decoration he looked as if he had just left a labour camp (compared to his usual look), his head was bigger than the rest of his body :p

How much can Remco beat Almeida by today??? I'm saying 30secs conservatively.

Do you think anybody else can beat him in the race overall?

Do we know why Almeida was not in the front group yesterday? Want to know if he's not feeling well, or if he just missed something.

30s is quite a lot on this route. They did something very similar in Tour de Romandie last year, where Evenepoel only took 11s. And that was with much more straight roads. But that was also at the end of Romandie when Evenepoel wasn't riding well at all.

Looks like not feeling well and/or isn’t in shape yet.

I think he wasn’t posting attention because after today’s race he said he was planning on riding a good result during ITT today
Fair enough. I don’t see the PCS post above the stage results and just started reading the race thread. I was like damn how did you lose 3:44 on this.

I saw almeida interview. He did not visually look out if shape. We will know on Saturday.

Good or bad we saw the difference in mentality between a guy like Remco and Cian today.

Tomorrow we'll see if Remco's climbing is worse or to be determined still. I'd say there are no elite puncheurs here and the only elite climber is Almeida so if he gets dropped on the last climb tomorrow (2,3km @ 9,3%) that's pretty bad, even if he ends up winning the stage/race

I do hope he wins, should have already have it in the bag after the TT.

Would be surprised if he had issues tomorrow. I can only see him lose if he’s outplayed tactically, but I would think he’s the strongest in the peloton at the moment. He’s a two time LBL winner after all.

At UAE Tour on the other hand…

We'll see, if he gets beaten tactically that's something else than just not being good enough to follow on the climb

No vingo at uae. As long as the tt is not neutered, he has that won

I had no doubts about today's stage; it was a very similar effort to Liège.

It's a shame Vingegaard isn't going to UAE Tour. I wanted to see Remco on a had climb against Vingegaard; presumably, his next objective is to close the gap with him in high mountains.

The difference between him & Almeida was not much, but at the same time enough. Very happy he continued his effort on the climb. And not reduce it after seeing Tiberi and Almeida manage to follow his initial burst.

Still a pity the TT was more or less cancelled. That way he would have had a very comfortable final day, now he will still need to remain vilgilant.

Also today confirmed what we already knew since alaphillipe dissapeared. Red Bull > Soudal

Is Remco starting the season too hot? Will he be lukewarm by the time the Tour de France starts?
Red Bull in it's entirety seems to be at a high level. It could fall off at some point, but it's also very early to tell. I don't think it's that terrible to be 85% in February when the rest is at 75%.

But it's quite obvious that Evenepoel and Red Bull are both eager to start off on a high after this high profile transfer.
