Because it's somewhat of a myth, or perhaps mystique is the better word. Look Pogi isn't doing altitude now through Liege and isn't affected by it. I think a reliance on altitude is more mental than physical for the classics. Just train your arse off stay focusesd.
We have no clue what Pogacar does to be as good as he is. For all we know he sleeps In an altitude chamber every night…

But altitude helps with classics too

It obviously plays a part, too, but we do see it time and time again, also in a different race yesterday, that even if you do have the energy, you don't always want to spent it you fear it may help someone else more than you.
Will knows no fear, which breeds on lack on lack of strength, usually. Focusing on the balance of power happens more so when you don't have much left in the tank. But cyclists are usually knuckleheads and will try to hedge bets or downright sabotage instead of work together for the common good where everyone gains at least something.

Because they wanted him to do some altitude, specifically for this race. Then he crashed and all was for nothing, again. I do agree that his schedule could be better, even more so for 1 day races. When you look at MSR for example. Can't imagine him not sprinting along for victory there.

I wouldn't be surprised if in 10 years he looks back at his career after never winning TDF, thinking: Damn I could've been the best 1-day racer ever if I only focused on that.
He couldn't be the best 1 day racer ever even if he fully focused on that

Pogacar cannot be the benchmark to anyone. What he does is unique.
Well, in any case, that doesn't change how he can re-imagine his prep and schedule. Otherwise, what's the point of racing? He's never approached a full classics campaign, so nobody knows his value in MSR and the northern classics and if you start from Pogi is unique so why bother your dead in the water anyway.

I also think he should focus on one day races. MVP is getting older, Pogacar will swith his focus more to GTs later in his career. He can be dominant specially when the younger generation seems to be weak in classics.

Remco is rather unique in ITT and one day race events. When i said that a couple of month back the backlash was enormous.

As for stage racing, stage wins, as for the GC, here cooperating with Rogla IMHO should improve things. IMHO they could easily split a couple of wins in between them but somehow it seems that at least for now they want to keep it separate. Youngsters taking the podiums.

I think it's the exact opposite, Pogacar will focus on 1 day races later in his career
