Pidcock would be the clear favorite for Amstel, had he not crashed hard in Catalunya. Depending on how badly hurt he was, he might still be the clear favorite. I also have Del Toro and Skjelmose on the same level as Remco.
Remco suck at big week long stage races for whatever reasons. But one of the reasons is that they are in the spring, and he is usually worse in the spring. He can still be competitive in the classics though, and Amstel is good for him on paper.

I wanted to suggest Seixas as another challenger but I saw he's only riding F-W and LBL. Do we know why no Amstel?

I don't know. I think the climbs in Amstel are much easier than in the other two, which is also reflected by the list of winners. The roads are more narrow and technical, which poses an extra challenge. Amstel is in general the more difficult race for the strongest guy to win.

I think it is the worst of the three races for him, so would make sense to skip it.

Yeah, PCS is wrong. And after UAE Tour debacle I'm pretty sure they are definitely skipping FW. Don't put too much on his plate, make sure he is at his best for LBL coming from a high after he wins AGR

I was pleasantly surprised by Remco Tour’s performance. Although the circumstances certainly worked in his favor. After Roglic’s DNF, there was no battle for third place; his own teammate and two of Pog’s teammates were behind him. The gap to first place was also very flattering for him, as Vingegaard barely got ready for the race after his crash, which meant there wasn’t a real battle for first place either.

Anyway. You claimed that Remco was the third-best climber in 2024. However, what you are trying to prove is that he was roughly on the same level as Roglic over two weeks in 2024.

Looking at the results from 2024, it's clear that Roglic was far ahead of Remco. He crushed him in the Dauphiné, winning two tough mountain stages in a row. Remco literally didn't win a single stage in 2024 that was a mountain finish. You claim that the results prove me wrong, but then tell me which result proves that Remco was the third-best climber in 2024?

Again you are now moving goalposts. Also convenient to use the Dauphiné. Basque would have been a better indicator but alas... I do know Roglic was nowhere in PN when Remco was battling for the win despite looking 'chubby'.

I'm struggling to understand why Itzulia could be considered a more important benchmark than the warm-up race that takes place after the main training block and before the highlight of the season. In any case, Roglic crashed out from first place, Remco from second place.

Remco was coming back from crushing worse than Roglic at the Dauphine, for which he only did the race to improve his form. It was thus not a gauge of anything, only that, at that point, Roglic was better.

He broke his shoulder, isn't that a big deal. Less than three weeks after the crash, he was already out riding, and in early May he was at a high-altitude training camp a month before the Dauphiné.

Your claim about PN seems false. I will need to recheck but i remember Remco losing time towards other rivals cause he spent too long thinking about Roglic. I would be surprised if Roglic was only worse on the last PN stage.

I'm not a Roglic fan. He was just the most obvious person to mention as being better. I wouldn't even call Remco the fourth best. The guy didn't win a single stage that was a mountain finish. Just because he had a lucky once in a lifetime podium finish at the Tour doesn’t mean he was third best climber.

The main differences were the TTT and the final stage. He probably lost one or two seconds in the sprint on one or two stages. But that’s it.
