Quite confident that Raboblanco and Vacans won't be able to find sponsors to continue next year, and Becca's team might join them.

until when is the team still financially backed by Rabobank? (they keep their contract even if they don't appear on jerseys, just like T-Mobile did with Highroad)

Pro-team until the end of this year. the other teams (I think) until the end of 2015.

I dont give a fig if Rabo goes forever. Deserve it. Plenty of others deserve it too. they had their chances to change the sport in 99 and lots of times since.

Even now no one team is really taking up the baton for a clean sport. That Garmin and Sky do a 'clean PR' stance means nowt. We have not heard the reason for Leinders at Sky and JV/Millar give Sky their full backing.

The people in the sport are not watching their sport (and jobs) go down the toilet they are pushing it! Idiots!

based on a biopassport designed to let some teams and riders be more equal than others.

Painful situation, but finally somebody from the media takes their responsibility serious. Boogerd can help clean up the mess. Step forward and be a man, not a coward.

To me it's an easy way to score 'points' by the NOS, and it has little to nothing to do with taking their responsibility. For me comparable to what the german tv did by stopping broadcasting the TDF a few years back.

If the NOS (or the german networks) are so serious about 'helping' the doping issue they should start doing real media work, conduct a serious research and uncover the current doping issues in cycling. And all other sports that they broadcast for that matter. But i don't expect the NOS to be interested in researching doping issues in ice skating. Or the germans in langlaufing/skiing etc.

As for Boogerd, i don't get why he doesn't simply admits.

We disagree, but thats a sidenote.

How many dopers are employed as commentators of live bike racing world wide? Don't know the answer, but they could collectively help clean up the sport if they wanted to.

We Dutch have gone completely crazy  Team Blanco hired an ex-special forces guy to interrogate the riders and managers about their doping past.

Waterboarding to be the order of the day?

What is the point of that? If they say they doped they get fired? Zero Tolerance on Steroids (literally!)?
No, 6 months suspension if the doping offence was before 2008.

But I don't know what the point is of this interrogation, it's not going to attract sponsors. Cycling in Holland is dead either way. Blanco find themselves in an impossible situation, no reason to think that their current riders have anything to do with the shady Rabo past, but no means to prove it either.

edit:
The reaction of Blanco DS Michiel Elijzen on twitter:

"Kan iemand mij aub bevrijden? Ik hang hier ondersteboven met startkabels aan mijn tepels en een trechter in mn hol.#verhoor #telegraaf"

Can someone please liberate me? I'm hanging here upside down with jumper cables on my nipples and a funnel in my a.rse. #interrogation #telegraaf

this explains well how rasmussen and boogerd had such ridiculous improvements again 2005 onwards and especially 2007(rest was cleaner, so they had more advantage), by early 2000s boogerd was deminished to a hilly guy, who could maybe launch a long attack in mountainstages, while in 2007, at age 35. he was the best climber he ever was and one of the best in that tour, rasmussen was especially ridiculous. remember his itt?

edit: see nothing was posted her,e but response was to matschiner interview in dutch papers this morning. how he gave bloodbags to boogerd and rasmussen in tours 2005-2007 and doped them with oher stuff too, like dynepo

don't believe that bull****, it's typical telegraaf sensationalist ****, the riders responses on twitter to this say more than enough, especially elijzen made me rol on the floor laughing

For everyone posting stuff about Ras in the Sky thread, just to remind you....

Ahhh yes, you are very much in agreement with separating Leinders from Sky

If anything these posts of yours show you have absolutely zero interest in getting to the truth. You are just trying to spin the dirt away. If you are true fan you would actually be up in arms about this.

honestly, cycling has been in far worse times and the sport only became more popular. ask fans if they care about doping and almost no one does. most people just watch it for sheer entertainment and doping actually improves entertainment. look at how slow and boring racing is today.

Not in the slightest: the discussion, if you had bothered reading it, was going on about the minutiae of Rabo's decision to fire Rasmussen, and very little else. If you feel the need to criticise me, read what is being said, try hard to understand what is going on, which I'll allow may be difficult for you, then actually post something relevant rather than just a knee jerk attack on me.

Also please look for comments I have made about Leinder's link to Sky. They may prove illuminating. That said, I don't expect you to bother

I thought you had an epiphany when you leant that Dr. L injected cyclists with EPO?

What happened to that?

Now you're back to head in the sand mode.

Not at all, there are questions to be answered. Do not misinterpret a bringing up point of order as shying away from a sensitive subject. There was no need to discuss the details of Rasmussen being fired by Rabobank in the Sky thread, that is all.

Here is the thread to discuss it. Go knock yourself out. As Netserk said Leinders is relevant to Sky, so as details emerge about Rabobank and his involvement and they become important to his time at Sky I would expect them to be bought up there.

However given there is a Leinders thread and this one, there are more suitable places for the discussion.

Maybe I'm being a bit OCD, but why are there threads for ceratin topics unless we discuss the topics there? Otherwise it's just a massive free-for-all.

Not everything I say is along partisan lines
